Baffin Bay Thump…...

Had fun taking these two guys out for a day of fishing in Baffin this Saturday.  First time wading, and first time fishing with croaker. The weather was perfect, with the clear skies helping to find the edges of the grass beds bordered by sand pockets. With lots of bait jumping around us, we focused our casts on the edges of the grass beds. Wasn’t long before the guys got the feel for it, and realized what I was describing when it told them to wait for the “thump”!  They had some solid Baffin trout mixed in with a few smaller fish. Tommy told me he really wanted to catch a big red. After already stringing a couple in the 23”-25” range, he got the bite he wanted, on the biggest croaker in the bag.  After a doubled over rod, some line stripping, and several minutes of battling, his fish was in the net. After a quick photo with the rest of the catch, the 30” brute was released for another day. Thanks Tommy and Jason for an enjoyable day on the water.
