Bull Reds

Trip Info

Fishing in the Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon couldn’t be any hotter. With a giant influx of finger mullet and the water temps rising fish are fired up. I recently took my brother fishing for a quick morning trip. Our goal was to nab a big bull red and then try to catch some small tarpon and whatever else might be willing to cooperate. We left the boat ramp and after a very sort ride we were on the fish right away. Within 10 minutes we were both hooked up with big bull reds. Despite the wind howling 15-20 mph and the overcast skies. After we landed our two beast we then set our sights on the small tarpon. My brother landed two and jumped over a dozen. I managed to catch one on fly and jumped several others. We then managed to catch two nice trout and two small snook. Not a bad four hour trip considering the wind conditions and poor sight fishing from the overcast skies. Unfortunately the tarpon photos didn’t come out well enough to post.
