Captain Jesse Gawlik Ocean Stinger Fishing Charter
Gulfstream/Offshore: We have been catching Mahi and Blackfin Tuna, along with an occasional Sailfish in the 40-60 fathoms, while trolling small ballyhoo on small Ilander skirt rigs. Best colors have been blue/white, black/purple. We have been catching must of our Mahi, Blackfin Tuna on small bait less skirts rigs. Most of the fish caught have came off the shotgun and long outrigger set in the chop water. Sailfish have been coming in on the dredges and spreader bars in the center of our spread. When they are in the spread we drop a pitch bait to them.
Offshore: 25-35 mile range were catching average size Mahi and King Mackerel in these areas. Kings have been on the small size but fun to catch. Mahi have been biting black/purple flying fish skirt rigs with 1 oz heads on the outriggers. The water is dark in color out there now so dark colors have been working best. We have had the best results catching Mahi while consistently moving our 6 squid predator chains in and out of our spread. You must have a lot of action on the water to make them bite.
While trolling we are catching solid numbers of Spanish mackerel 1-5 miles off Wrightsville. We are catching them while trolling 00 sliver and pink/sliver Clarkspoons spoons. Use #1 planner with 40ft 20lbs floro leaders.
