Fun day out on the water with Captain Larry. He worked hard to put me on the fish.
Fabulous to have Paul on my boat as he was an enjoyable skilled fly angler which allowed him to catch and release a nice tarpon, a redfish and a gorgeous snook all on the same day qualifying as a Backcountry Slam which is an envied accomplishment for every fly angler!
Just wanted to say Larry is the hardest working guide you will find. He is relentless in completing your trip as a great experience. I am at best a novice fly fishing person. Larry made me comfortable during my trip. Trying to help me accomplish the task of catching a sea monster on the fly. We completed our trip with a nice 85 pound Tarpon. Larry see you again & thanks for your guidance. You the man.
It is so wonderful when I guide anglers that are serous about catching fish and understand they should put in the time to practice their techniques and/or invest in quality equipment and Scott did both, getting out as soon as the snow melted in Pennsylvania so he could throw the fly on his new rod and reel to be ready for the challenge when he went for the real thing on the saltwater. And it all paid off with a photo as proof. Kudos to Scott!!
Capt Larry delivered the goods on a blustery day. We caught 10+ trout and a mixed bag of other species with a couple fish in the cooler for lunch. Larry’s boat delivered through the chop in the backcountry—probably the softest ride on a boat of that size I have been on. First rate and knowledgeable captain. Book with confidence.
For the conditions, John sure made the best of it - a true sportsman and a pleasure to have on the boat.
Great day in the water even though the fishing was hard because of the season. Caught bone dish and hammerhead shark. Captain was very patient with two fly fishermen who were not experienced spin fishermen. Too windy for fly rods.
The Trading Post lunch was outstanding. Really only need one for two fishermen.

J Larry shared with me he wanted to catch a bonefish so it was truly great that each of them got one, as they are the sport-trophy silver ghost of saltwater fishing in the Florida Keys as they are NOT easy to catch. These fly guys did a fine job with the spinning rod.
Last minute weekend trip to the Keys with my family. My 15yo son has dreamt of trying his hand at sight casting on the flats and back country out of Islamorada. We reviewed several captains and selected Capt. Larry based on his profile. Full day trip - almost all flyfishing. We ran out, hit a flat with some sharks and a few boils of bait…saw a snook and some mud boils…then settled in blind casting an edge along the mangroves for snook. Caught a couple…picked up to hunt the flats and had shots at several redfish. Hit a couple of “tarpon holds” along the mangroves…..sight casted the flats…more redfish and a great opportunity at a big tarpon! The caster (me, this time) lost all composure and did everything wrong….but was able to put a cast in front of the fish (mainly due to great poling work by Capt) and either hit him with the fly or he made an aggressive turn at the fly…it was exhilarating! Capt. Larry was a man of few words, tried to find opportunities to sight cast and also to catch fish where he knew they would be, kept us safe in a comfortable skiff, and gave us the opportunity and trip we were looking for - to see fish and try to catch them on a fly rod! It was a successful day! Communications with his wife, punctuality, etc were all excellent! If I could go again right now…i would!
