It was great experience for our first time fishing on salt water! He was a lot of fun. He was both informative and helpful. We wish we could’ve done a full day!

We booked with short notice and Capt. Larry was able to get us in. Communication was very easy. Although we didn’t catch anything, we had a good trip. Capt. Larry is a great fisherman but he’s definitely not a big talker. Which is fine, but we felt like he assumed we knew exactly what we were supposed to do when we didn’t necessarily know. We have been on fishing charters before and other ones seemed to help and give more pointers/information than he did. Tip: Bring amber-colored sunglasses! He asked if we brought any once we were already out on the water. He said it is the only way to really see the fish. It would have been good to know that ahead of time so we could have brought some.

Really enjoyed guiding this father and 17 year old son and I appreciate the forthcoming review. It was unfortunate that conditions were far less than perfect in that there was not the necessary water movement, preferred bait was not delivered that morning because of the holiday weekend, and a worm hatch had occurred in the 48 hours prior so fish were not hungry. I am a big talker but I take my cue from my angling guests and knew from the pretrip communications this was all about the son and he was very quiet so I too talked little.. I am going to be reaching out to FishingBooker because I always encourage guests from elsewhere to visit my personal website (which is easily searchable and reachable from my name) to become familiar with what to expect and there is an entire page on What To Bring that includes the advice to consider having amber sunglasses which improves fish visibility through the water - plus hats and sun protection, to name a few. I didn’t know my guests did not know this. I often am left to feel I provide too much information to guests which they find intrusive when they just want to relax. Most are unhappy if I inquire about their skill levels to help me plan my charter. I did my best to put them on fish and get hookups and constantly strive to improve customer experiences so again I thank them for their honest sharing.

I took my 14 year old son on his first Islamorada fishing experience & Capt Larry did not disappoint. We actually did two days with Capt Larry and were practically on fish the whole time we were on the water. Aside from catching two nights worth of dinner (The trout were fantastic) my son was able to catch everything The Keys had to offer including snapper, snook, redfish, jack crevalle and even a black tip shark! I would absolutely recommend Capt Larry for anyone looking to bring there kids (or anyone) out to the back country of the Florida Keys. What a great couple of days!

I am so glad they had fun because it was a good day and they were good anglers. Really a beautiful, awesome day, weather conditions perfect but found only a few fish as most were out spawning.
Great day on the water, Capt worked hard covered 50 miles caught a lot of fish but small. Biggest was a 3 lb trout. But the beauty and effort were great
Through his review, It is concerning to me that Bill didn’t seem overly happy with me or his experience mentioning nothing over 3 lbs, but in all fairness a great feature of FishingBooker is the encouragement of anglers and Captain communication and Bill had shared with me under Additional Info in his public booking form when first arranging the booking online that he does NOT do a particular precise arduous casting technique and he was dealing with “arthritis in hands”. For others booking please understand Captains use this information to plan the best day for each specific angler and I did not target big fish, requiring overly strenuous retrieves and heavy reeling for Bill under the circumstances of what he had immediately shared of his limitations before the trip so I feel a bit blindsided by a small part of his review taking ultimate enjoyment at least out of its totality that it was a great day and I had worked hard plus the beauty of it all and he would recommend me. But I felt this was an educational moment I should address for others.
