When it came to the fishing, Capt. GOWDY was the best guide we have ever been with! I took my 8y/o son on a Peacock Bass trip for his birthday and Capt. GOWDY put us on the fish minutes after launching the boat; no kidding! We literally lost count of how many fish we caught. I mean we caught so many, I started to feel bad for the fish!

All equipment was top notch and performed flawlessly and his boat was super comfortable and clean. He had a cooler and ice on board that we were able to put drinks and snacks in.

If you are a Dad looking to take your son or daughter fishing, book with Capt. GOWDY! I hadn’t planned on doing much fishing and wanted/planned for my son to catch fish and me to undo tangles, take fish off, etc. Capt. GOWDY quickly told me “you fish, I’ll take care of him!” and boy did he. My son had his most memorable fishing trip to date (so much so that he said he wants to be a fishing guide like Capt. GOWDY), but he also learned a ton about fishing from Capt. GOWDY.

If you are in the Bonita, Estero, Fort Myers or Naples area and aren’t booking with Capt. GOWDY, you’re making a mistake! Not only is he the best guide on the water, I feel like we made a life long friend. Capt. GOWDY is just an all around great person and I’m glad we got to spend four hours with him.

Had a great time! We didn’t catch target fish but we did catch a good bit of fish, water temps were hot. Of the hundreds of charters to choose from Fred Gowdy was a good pick

Captain Fred is as good as they come, no doubt like his other local fishing boat Captain friends.  We saw four bald eagles which Fred radioed to the other guys for them if they wished to share with they’re clients, that’s good will.  Then he jumped into the water to save a fish on line, three feet deep, but he did it!  Didn’t have to.  Took us out of his way out to the ocean for legal dinner fishing.  Caught a Triple Tail and filleted it for us which, not everyone will do these days.  Great eating for two nights.  Will look to book Fred when next we get to the area!  Thanks Fred it was great to make your acquaintance!

I really liked Fred’s captaining. He wasn’t controlling but he helped and let you do your own thing. If you wanted to cast your own he was okay with that and my wife needed help and he was happy to do that. I’ve met a few charters that if you got snagged or tangled while casting they would be upset. That’s not Fred, he’s calm and willing to help and he seems happy to do it. The boat was great! I wouldn’t eat off the deck but heck who would it’s a charter! But we felt comfortable the moment we walked on. His equipment isn’t the most expensive but it more than gets the job done. I saw someone earlier say it wasn’t up to their standards and that guy must hold some high standards. Because at first I couldn’t cast under the trees to save my life. And by the end I was hitting right where I wanted to. I also don’t think that was my skill but the good equipment

We caught 6 Sea trout in a matter of seconds when we pulled up to the spot. He cleaned them and got to take them home. We also caught a snook which was fun! I wasn’t thrilled with the amount of fish we caught but I also know some days you’re just luckier than others. I think Fred is really really good fisherman and knows goods spots I think the fish just didn’t bite all day. But heck that’s the way it goes. We also got to watch him collect his bait which was a unique experience! I would normally be upset if the charter got bait while we were supposed to be fishing but Fred kept us about an hour and half past our 3 hour mark so we had more time then we signed up for.

Overall like I said I think the boat and captain are great! We limited on trout so I was very pleased but I think for other fish the day just wasn’t right for them. I would love to try again with Captain Fred!
