We had a great time and caught a lot of fish.

We have been going on fishing trips the last few years for Fathers Day. We do a lot of freshwater fishing, and I completely understand that sometimes, even at the best spots, they aren’t biting. However, I also think that if they aren’t biting at the first place after a while, that you move on. Spending 4+ hours tied off to a rig, with very little to show for it, isn’t worth the money. We caught a few tiny red snapper, a few small spade fish, and two bonitas. I was trying to talk myself into the fact that it was just a bad day, until we pulled up to dock and watched a group cleaning 10+ huge red snapper. Captain Mac is a nice guy, but it felt more like my buddy got a boat and invited me to go fishing when he didn’t know any good spots. I cleaned the boat, I iced the fish, I cut the bait. After cooking one night, we ended up having two small filets to come home with. I sure don’t mind helping out, I just don’t feel like I got anywhere close to $750 worth of fishing.
