We went on the fishing trip with Captain Jesus. I think because it was just my husband and me we didn’t get the same type of boat you’d go on with Capt. Jaciel as there was not a bathroom on the boat. Regardless, we had a great time. We caught 2 bonita which we took into town and had prepared in ceviche and tacos. It was so good. Capt. Jesus recommended La Cabaña to prep our food and that was fabulous, too. Bring cash to pay the remainder of your trip fee (+tip) as they don’t carry card readers.

Capt Jaciel was great, the communication was amazing and he even managed to score us some beer on a Sunday before the trip! I told him “I only want to try and catch a roosterfish” due to the fact that we catch plenty of dorado (mahi) at home. We tried valiantly, trolled live baits, threw lures until our arms fell off, but he never stopped trying! We switched spots many times, he really put in “the work” and that’s all you want out of a captain!

Finally, we decided the Roosters did not want to play, switched gears and we caught two small mahi to kill the skunk and put some meat in the box.

We had a fantastic excursion with Captain Jaciel and Leo, his first mate. They were prepared and ready to go at 8AM. The waters were a bit rough out far and not much was biting for anyone, but we tried
and then went closer to shore. We caught 6 Jacks + had plenty more bites. We saw lots of whales, jumping stingrays, and turtles. Jaciel took us all around and did a great job of trying to find the hotspots. All-in-all, it was a great day — my son and I were very pleased. I recommend Shark’s and Captain Jaciel!

Our boat was the smallest and oldest on the water today, not a bad statement (5-6 boats out there with us) the captain and first mate put us on the fish and even adjusted lures and tactics to catch different fish.  We caught more jacks and red snapper than any boat!  3 giant 20plus red snappers and 9 giant 20 plus jacks.  The Captian is 3rd generation fisherman and proved his lineage today.  Thanks for the best deep sea fishing trip ever!

We met Jaciel at the little marina in Punta de Mita early in the morning and headed out. The boat was prepped and ready, and they had everything ready to go. It wasn’t long until we were heading out for the day. Tuna and marlin were super slow that day, but it was not for a lack of trying. They did their best to get us on the fish, but we just couldn’t hook up for the first half of the day. We headed closer to the bay to see if we could catch anything else. We landed one Dorado and then got a couple of good sized Rooster fish, a mackerel, and a Jack Crevalle. Jaciel and his father were awesome and worked hard to make sure we had a great day of fishing. Jaciel’s dad even made us ceviche with the dorado that we caught (such a great lunch)! Everything was filleted and bagged so we could get it back to our room to freeze for the trip home. When we go back to Puerto Vallarta, we will definitely be calling them to set up another fishing day. These guys were fun and totally worth the early morning. The extra shade on the boat was much appreciated as well! We would recommend them to anyone who wants to get out and have a great day.
