Good boat, bait and gear. The salt/fresh water mix was off, we marked LOTS of BIG Reds very deep and suspended trout just could not get them to move and bite aggressively and the SkipJack were overly abundant and stealing bait.
Sport-Fish had no discernible, consistent pattern before the pending weather change.
Would suggest customers cut Captain some slack as he is a cancer and heart attack survivor and has lost some muscle and may have recently had a mild stroke. (Get that checked Capt)
Why am I saying it? Because I’m 55 amd handicapped myself. Be aware and extra mindful and courteous. He is an experienced fisherman who MIGHT need an extra hand or could lose his balance if trying to bring in a huge Fish. I’m not saying he needs help or would require it, just be ready to help and don’t be a jerk.
Me being handicapped myself (and it’s not immediately visually obvious) I like when people know in case they have to help or they see me stumble or lose my balance.
I have huge respect for the Captain and his abilities and his drive to keep fishing into his “retirement years.” He has a few years on me and deserves respect for continuing to run a charter. It is a tough gig.
If you happen to get skunked or not limit out, it isn’t him, it is the Fish and conditions. He knows his stuff and the surrounding water well.
Did we catch keepers? No! Captains fault? No!
Use him again? Yes!
Ide highly recommend him espeacially for a parent/guardian + child or a BF/GF trip because he has a humble soft-streak, that kids and women would appreciate.
We had a good, safe time even without catching the desired fish species. We marked good fish all 4 hours, too bad SkipJack were all over the place and the sports fish weren’t biting heavily.
It was one of those days where you couldn’t buy a solid bite with blood in the water.
