In the course of our vacation in la Fortuna we booked the Volcano Sun set Trip with 3 hours duration.  The meeting point was easy to find and we were able to safely park our car there.  There was professional equipment.  I didn’t need to bring my own.  The Captain (Marc from Belgium) speaks English and Spanish.  He has been fishing there for over 20 years.  We caught more than 10 fish during our trip.  The females have been reinstated.  We had a lot of fun on the trip and if we come back to this area we will go fishing with him again.  My wife didn’t fish, but she really enjoyed the trip as the views from the boat are nothing short of spectacular.

On Monday, February 13th, I had the luxury of taking a half day fishing trip with Captain Marc! Not only did I catch several Rainbow Bass (one of them being a trophy Rainbow bass), he provided me with food and beverages (that were more than enough for the whole trip), really nice and reliable equipment, his expertise of the lake and much more.
He gave me the option of which type of fishing I wanted to do (reeling, jigging and trolling) which was really nice for someone who fishes a lot at home and had a sense of what I wanted out of the trip. As I mentioned earlier in my review, I was fortunate to have landed a fish of a lifetime with a 7+ pound rainbow bass!
Not only was I well fed and had great success on the water, Captain Marc was polite, respectful and a joy to be on the water with for the day. I was in Costa Rica for 7 days and fishing on Lake Arenal with Captain Marc was a highlight of the trip. If you are looking for a good time fishing on Lake Arenal, Captain Marc is your guy!

We had a nice 5 hr trip with Captain Marc. Even though it was very wind and choppy we still caught a few fish. Captain Marc is the seasoned veteran captain on this lake and knows every hot spot for fish. 👍
