My brother and I took my two teenagers on a four-hour trip with Captain Mitch for the kidsโ spring break.
We started off shore. My brotherโs bait was stolen on his first cast and he brought up an incredible sheepshead on his second. I landed a small pigfish on my first cast. Unfortunately, as good as the fishing was, the combination of rolling seas, current, and ineffectiveness of our Dramamine meant that we had to head back to shore almost immediately.
Unfazed by our need to change plans, Captain Mitch quickly pivoted to an in-shore experience. Each of us had a bit of luck and went home with some great memories and enough cleaned sheepshead to feed a family of four.
His boat was incredible and immaculately maintained. Captain Mitch was super friendly and patient with the three neophytes and had some pro tips for the more experienced angler in our group. For our first time going sea fishing, this was an excellent experience. Captain Mitch put us on fish right away and we continued to catch them for the duration of the trip. He made sure everyone had their poles rigged up correctly and kept switching out baits for us.ย Overall, this was one of the best fishing experiences weโve ever had and we will for sure be booking with him again in the future.

Boat has a great deck, and you may question why a Catamaran? This is a fairly new custom boat for Captain Mitch. This Captain has his clients best interest. We focused on bait first thing. Who hammered it first, caught the most while other boats were still looking. Capt Mitch must be able to see 30 feet underwater because he targeted the schools of bait 3 out of 4 throws with his cats net. Captain is equipped with 4 bean bags, like riding in a Cadillac or Bentley! A cushioned ride to all his hot spots. The weather was drizzling but calm and Captain Mitch took us around inshore and put us on fish. We caught redfish, flounder, stingrays, and some throw back catfish and baby shark. We had plenty of room to fish and had a great time. As noted above, keep the stingrays, they are delicious. My two year old ate them and loved them and Captain Mitch knows how to clean your catch!

We had a great time. We went to 2 different spots and were catching fish at both spots. We only changed because we were wanting to catch different fish. I will recommend this trip and Captain Mitch at Get Schooled Fishing Charter to any one that is going to St. Augustine, Fla. that wants to fish.
