Captain Pedro was very easy to work with, knowledgeable, and was in constant contact with us from the very beginning of the booking. He was upfront that getting into billfish could be hit or miss, but he would try his best to get us on some billfish before focusing on Mahi Mahi or Tuna.
WELL, Captain Pedro and his crew came through!! Within an hour, we hooked up and landed our first Blue Marlin!! Then, in another 30 mins, we hooked up on our second Marlin, but it shook off the line. Lastly, to finish the day we landed a giant 400+ lb Blue Marlin!! Needless to say, our arms and legs were shot from fighting these monsters!
Captain Pedro and his crew was absolutely amazing and worked extremely hard to get us on these fish. The equipment, boat, fishing gear are top notch!! I would highly recommend Luminare Sporting Fishing for your fishing adventures in Costa Rica!! I will return to Costa Rica and use them again for sure!

We booked the Extreme Offshore Trip on the recommendation of another guest at our hotel who showed us pictures of a boat full of Mahi and Tuna. By 8:30 we were trolling a bit off the mouth of the Gulf of Nicoya with a massive spread of lures. We switched to live bait after we came across a school of Tuna around 9:30 and got our first 3 fish in the boat(pictured here). We started trolling around for a bit with no luck. We found the tuna again around noon and the crew switched back to live bait. From noon-2pm we caught another 13 tuna all 15-20lbs. we were back on shore by 3pm. Thanks Captain Pedro and all the crew for a great day.

We booked this trip with Pedro for the three of us for two days mostly looking for the yellowfin tuna. Captain Pedro was very communicative from the minute we booked the trip and had a bunch of helpful information. Our first day we were picked up at Herradura beach, and managed to get a sailfish within a few hours. It was very clear how much experience Pedro and his crew have. They were helpful, friendly, and entertaining the whole day. We were super excited for day two and rightfully so; as we got a mahi mahi, another sailfish, and four tuna. Eric and Jose fileted the tuna and mahi mahi as we were going and had some great sashimi during the day.
5/5 I would recommend this trip for beginners or experts. The crew is very keen to catch the biggest fish in the area and theyโre definitely cut out for it.

Capt Pedro and his crew could not be any nicer and accommodating. I think these guys could make veteran fishermen happy or just pleasure day-sailors (that was us) happy. Very nice and easy-going. They set everything up. They hook the fish and give you the rod/reel. Very instructive. We booked a full day - but ended up coming in a bit early (one of our party was ready to come in).ย Of note, the ride out to where the pelagics are is a pretty tough harsh one hour out. If you are a little worried about sea-sickness, I would get a patch/scopolamine. We had a couple of marlin strikes - but the pelagic fish were really not biting. The real fun started when he put us on a huge bait/ball - Iโve never seen a larger pod of dolphin. Was like something out of national geographic. We worked them for an hour or two - caught two nice yellow-fin tuna (largest was 80lb - and that was mine and that fight was all I needed for the day). They set us up w/ the best tuna sashimi that iโve ever had. We took a large piece back to our resort and had another round of sashimi and poke. Pedro did not run out of beer or sandwiches or hospitality. A lot of fun and a crew that were nice and attentive. Recommend!

Our day started slow but Captain Pedro was in contact with other boat captains in the area and soon we were heading to a new spot where yellow fin tuna have been biting. After a short time we landed 2 nice size yellow fin tunaโs. The crew on the boat - Eric, Jose, and Andy were super helpful with everything. Even expertly cleaning our Tuna and serving us some fresh tuna sashimi. After this we thought we were done and going to head back but the guys threw some more bait out and we started at it again. Short time late we pulled an 87โ sail fish out of the water. We took some quick pictures and released him. This crew tryโs very hard to make sure you have a good time.
