Captains Troy and Debbie (and mate Korey) exceeded all expectations for our group. Super laid back and accommodating for our group and consistently put us on the fish. We probably boated 100+ sea bass and easily had 30+ keepers. Iโd recommend this boat and crew to anyone looking to have a great day/night on the water with friendly, helpful folks.

We booked to go after Mahi with the captain, he asked if we minded going out for tuna first then go after Mahi the night before.ย We got 1 tuna bite and reeled in it, we missed the gaff hook and the fish was spooked after that. We were using light tackle for yellowfin which resulted in a broke line after the miss. We never went after Mahi and spent whole trip chunking for Tuna. Iโm aware that is a different cost but really wanted the rest of my group(6 people) to try and catch some Mahi. Not what I was expecting but an overall good experience. I would book with them again, we just need to communicate our game plan better and go after other fish when the Tuna arenโt biting and the customers are getting bored, or sea sick. As I said, Captain and first mate were great (except for the missed gaff, that was disappointing). So I give them a five star regardless of that issue because I technically didnโt pay a tuna price. The next time when we spend 3 hours without a bite, they need to cut the losses and go after different fish. I ate the cost for the others in my group because they never even got to touch a pole. I wanted to catch fish, not scout for the next group going out.

To begin with you booked a wreck trip that is an hour offshore and then you requested bigger fish that put up a little fight like Mahi.ย I had informed you that they are out slightly further and that there is also Tuna in the same distance offshore (1 1/2 hour out).ย I asked if you would prefer to troll for Mahi or try chunking for Tuna for a few hours to see if we could get a Tuna.ย You responsed: Absolutely, Iโd love to go after some tuna.ย We left at 7, chunking by 8:50 and a Tuna on by 9:50.ย You have to use light leader when chunking and we had informed you of that and that you needed to be gentle so as not to loose the fish.ย You did not want to hand off the reel but on the third time of you hitting the drag and letting the tuna run - it broke the line.ย Yes it was close to the boat a few times (not close enough to gaf) and your entire group was excited in seeing the tuna, so you wanted to try again.ย We lost that tuna at 10:20.ย To pack up and leave and then go to where the Mahi were located would have given you maybe 30 minutes of trolling for the Mahi versus another 1 1/2 hours of trying to get another Tuna.ย Your group was involved in feeding the line to the Tuna - so Iโm not sure why you said you were the only one with any hands on but again it was your choice.ย The youngsters on the boat would never have had a chance to pull in tuna as you found out it is much harder than you imagined. You also said โso I give them a five star ratingโ but you gave us a three star overall????ย And you never had a โ3 hours without a biteโ in your 3 1/2 hours of fishing.ย After all it is called โFishingโ and not โCatchingโ.

Captain Troy, Debbie and Hanley were an amazing group to fish with.ย They navigated us quickly safely and comfortably out to sea.ย Then they kept us right on top of the fish all day and we had a an amazing day catching 5 huge yellow fin tuna and 3 white marlin.ย What a fight all these fish gave us and we were exhausted at the end of the day from the workout!ย The boat is clean and comfortable to relax in.ย Would recommend New Release to anyone!ย Five stars!

We booked a 12-hour offshore trip with Captain Troy. Of course, we were hoping to land at least one tuna, but we were more than satisfied with the 70 bonito that we pulled into the boat. We started fishing at 7:00 AM and had the entire cooler filled by 8:30 AM. Captain Troyโs wife Debbie just kept putting us on fish. There were five of us in the group and we had three separate occasions when four of us or all five of us were reeling in fish at the same time. We averaged landing a fish every 6 minutes.
I canโt say enough good things about Captain Troy, Debbie and Kyle, the mate. They all worked hard to make sure we had a great time (although we donโt need a lot of help in that department), and they were very enjoyable to spend the day with. I would highly recommend booking with them - I can promise we will be on board the next time we have the opportunity.

This was a great trip. Captain and crew were very friendly and informative. The crew worked 100% of the time that we were on board, baiting hooks, adjusting lines and landing fish. They never slowed down the entire time. We caught 6 Yellowfin Tuna, 207 lbs. Great trip. Entire party extremely satisfied. Would recommend Captain Smith and New Release any time.
