We booked the morning walleye trip, arrived at the boat as instructed at 7:02am. Nobody around, music on the boat playing. After 10-15 minutes, a neighboring boat captain came over and ask why we were there. He went onboard and found Captain Duane sleeping on the boat. No idea he had a charter to do. The boat was filthy, appears to have had no upkeep or cleaning for months. Heading out Captain told us his plan, fish the reaf one pass and if no luck weโll head to deeper water. No fish and yet we kept going over and over the same spot and never moved on. Fish finder on the boat but not using it. No 1st mate so captain would point the boat in the right direction and then come to back of boat and manage fishing reals. 75% of time nobody at the helmโฆ. Captain told us the walleye are pretty much done for the season but yet advertised for walleye fishing. Needless to say we caught one northern pike and one walleye in 6 hours. Thank goodness it was a beautiful day because thatโs the only positive thing about the trip.
