We met them at the boat launch. They had texted us ahead of time to get our shoe size for waders, since we were fishing for sockeye salmon. Captain Dean took us up the Kenai River to one of his favorite fishing areas. We fished for several hours and caught 13 fish between the 4 of us. Dean and Grant were so helpful in coaching us on technique and helping once we had a fish on the line. Then Dean fileted all our fish. We kept one for a very fresh dinner and he took the rest to process and send to us. A fabulous experience!!! We all LOVED it!!!

Spent an early morning watching boats around us catching fish. While I believe the captain was trying hard results did not reflect. For a serious fisher wanting to sit in silence captain is ok, but if you have a family with kids who are inquisitive it’s hard having a guide who is deaf (not advertised). Sincerely appreciate how difficult the disability is but also significantly impacted the experience with our kids. They were not able to effectively ask questions or learn about the river, fish, etc.. Half the group left early, remaining half caught one fish in 5 hours. Underwhelmed.

Dean is the top. He is super professional. His boat is top notch, clean, and well organized. With Dean it seemed everything just ran so smooth. Even though looking around I didn’t see many fish being caught, our group caught nice fish. If you are going out on the river and need a guide, go with King of the River. If he has any openings.
We did a half day trip with King of the River with Eli. We had a great time. Eli worked hard to put us on the fish, but unfortunately the Reds were just not in the river. We also tried for Kings, which were catch and release but no luck there either. Nevertheless, we had a great time and would book with King of the River again.

Bass had the other half of our group and didn’t seem to pull his weight. Nate covered the majority of our group, and Bass just seemed to be there to drive us to and back from the spot. When his group didn’t limit, he didn’t try to go up river to find another spot. Bass did take two of our group back to their cars when they got cold. We ended a couple hours early of our full day excursion about 4 fish short.
