Capt Joseph and First Mate Sam were top notch for our group of 8. Plenty of room on Cool Change for us. Those guys put us on the fish, when the bites cooled down they simply put us another of their spots, more bites more fish in the boat! We made our limit and headed back right on time. Last catch was a 20lb monster Red and we also had a one angler bag a huge Black Snapper. We walked away with 24lbs of clean fish! I’ve done many private charters in the gulf from Orange Beach to Panama City as well as several times in the Keys, and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip on Cool Change with Capt Joseph!

Our fishing trip was scheduled to begin at 6:30 AM.  We arrived early to make sure we found our boat and wouldn’t be late.  We found the boat easily and already onboard was Sam the deck hand who greeted us with a big smile and easily chatted with us until Captain Joe arrived.  Safety instructions were given and received with enthusiasm.  All aboard and off we went on time!  We were off and after we left the bayou area and headed towards open water the lines were released and within 10 minutes we hooked our first fish.  We had waves, wind, rain and laughter.  In total we caught 3 spanish mackeral, 16 bonita and 1 small hard tail jack which we released back.  Our family of 7 had a fantastic time and would book this team again in a heartbeat.  Big thank you to Captain Joe and Sam.  This was the best way to start our day!

From the start the experience was great.  Scheduling through FishingBooker was a breeze.  Contacted Captain Joe, aka “Captain Hurricane”, through text and he gave my friends and I tips on what to bring.  It was very simple, “food and what ever you want to drink”.  He and his mate (Sam) took care of the rest. 

Joe and Sam’s experience level was very evident from the start of the trip.  Their cool demeanor and readiness to ship off proved this.  They had everything ready to go, all we had to do was step on the boat.

We fished in a 10 man group and our bottom fishing experience between the group was at the most 4 trips but most have only been once or never.  We were basically hackers.  With Joe and Sam’s help they had us looking like pros in a matter of minutes.  Joe’s 30+ yr knowledge of the terrain is unparalleled.  We trolled between the hot spots along the artificial reefs.  Joe guided us in each area as to the dept we should be fishing.  He was right on target and if our line was in the water for more than 30 seconds our bait was gone. 

For us the trip was a huge success even though the majority of fish were out of season.  The only regrets I have is that we scheduled the trip one week before Trigger was in season and we only did an 8 hour trip.  However if you have several people new to bottom fishing then 8 hours may be enough.  The 4 hours fishing time we had went by very fast.  Our catch would have been twice as large if Trigger was in season.
