The crew was really great. The fishing wasn’t so good but that wasn’t anything to do with them. The water was pretty choppy so we didn’t feel great and the wind was strong enough that going offshore probably wouldn’t have been a good idea. For context we went a month prior out of Hopedale, Louisiana and caught about 200 speckled trout in 4 hours. We caught three king mackerel and two Spanish mackerel trolling about 500 yards off the beach for about 4 hours. Caught the fish in the first two hours. The plan was to go offshore and bottom fish but I had my four kids with me and they weren’t feeling great so I decided to cut it short. This is the very nature of fishing. Sometimes you strike gold and other times it’s mediocre. I’m just grateful that we did not leave empty-handed and looking forward to some great fish tacos tonight.

We were greeted with a smile. Limited out on trigger fish with a 10 plus pounder to boot! Caught several vermilion snappers at several locations. It wasn’t the idea weather conditions for fishing but we hung in there , big waves and all for a fantastic day of jigging . Our fish were promptly cleaned and iced. Planning on a red snapper trip in June. An aggressive captain and mate who really do their best to Put you on quality fish. ?

Our family was vacationing nearby and all the men folk chartered Captain Mike and the Sure Shot for a half day trip.  We all had an incredible time, from the young boys to papaw.  We caught several fishing trawling on the way to the fishing spot.  Once we arrived Capt. Mike’s secret location, you couldn’t not catch a great red snapper.  The deck hand was very patience and experienced.  After catching our limit we trawled for a little longer and caught some monster mackerel.  We would recommend Capt. Mike and the Sure Shot to anyone and will be chartering with Capt Mike in the future.

I booked a 4-hour trip with Captain Mike for my husband’s birthday.  We were in Gulf Shores on vacation with our 3 kids.  I was worried about the trip since our kids are 9, 7 and 5 and this was our first time on a chartered trip with them.  The captain was great, the first mate was great, the boat was great, the experience was great!  We caught mackerel, bonitos and red snapper.  The kids had a great time and we loved every minute of it.  My husband said it was the best birthday he’s ever had.  We had the best time and hope to take a longer trip next year!  Thanks for the memories!

What an amazing trip we had with these two guys on the Sure Shot! Nice boat with A/C, hard-working first mate (Blake) and a successful captain that have put us on fish. Triggers and Amberjacks were in season, as well as some other species. We caught a lot of fish but released most of them as we were interested in having fun and letting fish go. We kept enough for our lunch.

Started at 7am (enough to get some sleep), trolled about an hour and a half to reach the fishing grounds where we bottom fished. On our way to fishing grounds we caught 3 bonitas. After trolling, we started bottom fishing for Amberjack, Triggerfish and variety of Snapper and Grouper. We caught a few Amberjacks, probably +10 Triggers and fought 2 huge sharks (one was probably +400 lbs). On our way back we trolled again and caught a nice Kingfish as well as one bonita.

All in all, an amazing, memorable and very friendly experience thanks to Capt. Mike and first mate Blake.

Next time we visit Orange Beach for fishing charters, we’ll make sure to book again with the same crew. Highly recommend to anyone, both families or sportfishermen.
