My wife, and 2 adult sons, booked the 4 hour afternoon fishing charter with Southern Mayhem Fishing Charters.  We cannot say enough good things about Captain Cole.  He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, responsive, helpful, informative, and polite!  He made us feel so welcomed and comfortable, even though we kept him busy baiting our hooks, untangling our lines, etc!  We were rewarded with an exciting afternoon of catching fish…just two shy of our limit!  And, after we docked, he filleted them for us. We had an awesome fresh fish dinner of mangrove snapper the following night. We would highly recommend Southern Mayhem, and Captain Cole!  Can’t wait to fish with him again!

I have charter fished in many places around the world, at 68 years old there isn’t much I have not seen. This young man is without question the finest captain i have EVER experienced. While getting to know Cole during the trip we shared many stories. Turns out Cole has finished 3 years of college and was pursuing a law degree as a corporate attorney. His passion for fishing however drove him to sit with his dad and tell him “dad I want to start a charter business”. Dad said “go for it” great kid/GREAT parents. So here are indicators that will help you decide if Cole should be your choice.#1 live bait ,#2 does he sit in one spot or work to find the fish? he works #3 this is a BIG indicator, does he decide at the halfway point to look for fish that happen to be in the direction of the dock? (captains save gas by heading back) Cole kept heading AWAY #4 does he change baits and tactics during trip? Well i could go on and on. The bottom line here is that this young man HAS IT. Polite ,hard working, kind ,patient and flat out a quality person. I cannot say more than this Cole is passionate about his work. Greg Skelly Oak Lawn Ill

Live shrimp bait was not available so Cole caught bait for us with a throw net. Fishing was a little slow without the live shrimp, but Cole got us onto fish with the greens, red threads, and frozen shrimp. We caught Mangrove Snappers, Pins, Whiting, and “Kitties”. We also saw a lot of dolphins. Cole is a very personable guy and really knows his stuff when it comes to fishing. He was very helpful with my daughters that are not seasoned when it comes to fishing. One of them ended up catching the most fish and the other got the first and biggest one. It ended up being a most memorable Father’s Day gift from my two daughters and son!

Captain Cole was amazing, a college student starting his first small business, which is amazing in and of itself.  Cole taught us the ropes, was patient and gave us specific instructions to improve our chances at landing fish, he showed us a great experience all around. 

Now, you should be aware that this is inshore (river) fishing, not deep sea fishing.  The fishing is a bit more technical, specifically more precise casting.  The major benefit to this trip is that you don’t spend 50% of your time taking a boat ride to the fishing spots, you have your lines in the water quickly, you spend a majority of your time actually fishing, not riding in a boat.

Cannot say enough good things about Cade. Ultra knowledgeable of target species and their habitat. Wonderful conservationist. Very personable and patient. Tackle was top notch. Works his tail off to put you on fish. Will undoubtedly be fishing with him in the future.

Day started with netting bait fish then hitting some mangroves along residential canals looking for snapper and snook. Moved to some more remote mangroves and got into great mangrove snapper action. When cooler was filled with enough for dinner we made our way to the canals again. This time pitching mullet under docks for tarpon. My some had a couple good blowups and had one hooked but could get it out of the docks. Finished the day off moving to more open water for surfacing tarpons.
