Thoroughly enjoyed my fishing day with Pedro and his first mate. Both were very knowledgeable and enjoyed sharing their knowledge with my wife and I. Pedro used that knowledge to get us on the tunas and we had a blast. If/when I come back on the island I will be calling Pedro again…communication with Pedro before the trip was both easy and quick

As the crew said : until the last minute we go fishing! And there was the tuna in the last minutes. Little bit that we knew that bringing this big one in was still some work, you can see why. Lucky for us the crew knows what they are doing because this fish has given us a fight. My son’s first fishing trip on the ocean, a memory for a live time. His words: Best day of my life! And I have nothing more to add except that I definitely recommend them! For everyone who wants to fish with and without experience this is the place to be!

Yes, as usual, we say, until the hooks are on the water, everything is possible, and on your case, we were rigth. It was an amazing experience, and we were almost finishing the trip, but everything was really great. I belive your soon never forget this day and this is the most important thing for us. So Pedro and his deck hand were great guys. They spoke excellent English. The English was important to my buddy and I because we speak no Portuguese but still love to learn about the local fishing and hear stories about the region. They did not disappoint. The bad thing is that we caught no fish (other than one small barracuda I jigged up at the end). I fish blue water with some regularity and know that it’s always a gamble but… this time felt pretty bleak. We trolled for about 4.5 hours, and jigged for about 2.5. Note that the lack of success was no fault of the crew. We saw no surface activity, no diving birds, and certainly no boiling fish. Pedro struck me as an excellent fisherman. He had great equipment for trolling and good jigging rods. Like all good captains, he was in communication with his peers to see if they had found any fish. But if the tuna aren’t around it is a difficult area for a plan B because it’s so deep and there are few high spots to probe for alternative species. I think if you are interested in chasing tuna, like me, you need to talk to Pedro in advance to see if the fish are around. I’m sure he would be honest about your chances. If I fish here again I would not hesitate to book with Pedro but I would definitely get the tuna report before spending my euros. I am as much to blame as anyone for the difficult day because I didn’t do my research. All good, I still learned a lot and drank a bunch of cold beers. Thanks boys!

Hello Thomas, Thank you for your words. unfortunately, on the last days, Big Game fishing has been bad, and Tunas ran out and has been difficult to find. The Captain contacted me several days prior to our scheduled off shore fishing trip.The weather forecast for that day would have prevented an outing. The trip was rescheduled to a better weather day with my approval. Our 4 hour trip resulted in catching 1 Mahi Mahi. I was hoping for big eye tuna, but not disappointed. We observed many dolphins near the boat. That’s why its called fishing. I will book another trip with Captain Pedro next summer when the weather improves and is more predictable. As we say in fishing “good luck”
