Captain Brian is a capable seaman and skipper with top of the line fishing gear and a fast moving boat to get you on top of the fish fast.  During our excursion, we chased Blue Fin Tuna, caught Bonito, landed a beautiful Mako Shark and experienced several dolphin runs.  This was one of the most exceptional finishing trips we’ve taken commanded by an affable, capable and customer centric skipper. Was in San Diego for a 10 day vacation with family to see my son who is in the USMC. He grew up fishing and it was always something we both loved.  We finished off our vacation with this fishing trip and it was the perfect ending to what turned out to be one of the best family vacations we ever took. Captain Brian had everything we needed, was great to talk to and we started catching fish almost as soon as we cleared the channel.  Several times during the trip we had more fish on the lines than we could real in at one time.  In the end, we took 4 Yellow Tail, caught 10 Bonita and was real close to taking a Maco shark on 25lb test.  My son said it best….......... “Best fishing trip ever”  Thanks Captain!!

Brian was very accommodating and helpful prior to the trip and during the trip. He made sure everything was set in the planning before the fishing day.  And on fishing day he had everything prepared for us and we caught fish.

I haven’t been fishing in a long time so needed some help getting started.  He taught me what to do and got me catching fish in 20mins.  It was a good time.  We had 3 fisherman total on the boat and we all caught fish, didn’t get seasick, and all had a good time.

Brian has been fishing for a long time and has fished all over the world.  He has some good stories to tell.  And he has been taking people out to fish in San Diego for years and has good spots to take his visitors on.

So first off it was a slow fishing day. We signed up for a half day trip (5 hrs) which is inshore fishing for sea bass, yellowtail etc. We only caught a couple of striped bass in the bay on the way back bc the fish just were not biting that day. All that being said I felt like Capt Brian gave us the best shot to catch fish. He’s very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. He even gave extra time, as much as we wanted because of it being a slow day. All in all it was a great experience. Even though we didn’t catch big fish I would put money on getting them on a second day with Capt Brian.

After looking at the reviews of the different guides and boats on FishingBooker for what ever reason I kept coming back to Brian and the Fin Runner and I’m sure glad I did.  As soon as I booked our reservation Brain called to let me know he had received it and would be contacting me later with all the details, which he did. We had booked for in the morning but Brain asked if we could change to the afternoon, which was great for my wife since she isn’t a morning person.  He was at the marina on time with a huge smile on his face and made as feel like family the minute he introduced himself.  Once underway is was very professional but yet still a hoot.  He explained where and what we going to fish for and told us what to expect.  He also told us (which we know because we do a lot of trout fishing on our own boat back home) that fish are finicky and just because they are at one spot in the morning they may not be at that same spot in the afternoon.  Brain worked his fanny off to get us to the right spots and he did.  We didn’t catch a lot of fish but we caught fish and had a great time doing it.  This guy is a true professional and such a fun person to fish with, he is worth every penny and then some.  I will defiantly fish with him again, as we had a great time and we consider him a friend.
