This Captain rocks! Marcelino put us on the fish just as soon as we got out!  My wife and I hooked up with barracuda, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, and Tuna in that order and then caught extra of each. We caught a decent sized Wahoo, maybe 20 pounds which was awesome!

Sadly, my wife got sea sick an hour into fishing and we had to turn back for shore, but the amount and variety of fish we did catch in that small window of time is a testament to the captain’s skill and experience.

Captain Marcelino and his deckhand Anthony were both kind and thoughtful and had drinks in the cooler for us on board! Having kind and knowledgeable guides always makes a fishing trip that much better! The boat was spacious, with a shaded seat in the middle of the boat and 2 comfortable fighting chairs! This boat could comfortably hold a family of 4 or 5 no problem!

Anthony also filleted our choice fish for us and bagged the filets so that we could have them fried up at a nearby restaurant!

The only area for improvement I could speak on would be that the crew tended to speak Papiemento among themselves quite often (which is understandable of course), but if you don’t know the language you can feel a bit left out of the loop especially if you like to learn and grow your knowledge about fishing techniques and strategies.

Overall, I would rate this experience on “The Persistence” very highly, and would be very glad to go out With Cpt. Marcelino again next time I come to Aruba! Although I may leave the wife at the beach with a cocktail :D

FIVE STARS!!!

My husband and I did a 4 hour morning trip with Marcelino in early February, and it was a wonderful experience! While we only caught 1 little barracuda, it was my first deep sea fishing experience and being out there with the huge ocean swells was an awesome experience in itself!! Marcelino was a great captain and host. Watching the sunrise as we headed out to sea was a great beginning. It was also very cool to watch Marcelino put all of the lines in the water. It wasn’t his fault the fish just weren’t biting that day! At one point dolphins were swimming alongside the boat which was an added bonus. Definitely looking forward to more deep sea fishing excursions in the future. Highly recommend booking with Marcelino!!
