My family booked a 4-hour morning fishing trip with this company on 7/29 and didnโt catch any fish.ย We are very disappointed about this trip.ย
I know that fishing is an uncertain sport, but I believe that our bad results this time were caused by human factors. I chose this company because I read that Capt. Heath was extremely experienced in the description, but the description did not acknowledge the fact that there would be other substitute captains. Unfortunately, we believe the captain who served us on our fishing trip was inexperienced. #1, During our 4-hour trip, nearly half of the time was spent purely sailing, and the distance between each fishing spot was quite long. It seemed like the captain had no set goal, and, what we came to participate in was not a fishing trip, but a sightseeing trip. #2, at several fishing spots, the captain looked around to find fish schools with his eyes, so most of the time he couldnโt find any fish and needed to go to another distant fishing spot. I thought fishing charters used radar to find fish. I donโt know why our captain was using human eyes to locate the fish; this is very strange. Therefore I came to the conclusion that the equipment of this charter was relatively poor, or the radar was broken? #3, The captain failed, on numerous occasions, to secure the live bait on the spinning rods. The live bait was often lost midair when the line was released into the water. From my understanding, putting the bait on the hook is a fundamental skill that a professional fisherman should be proficient at. If our captain couldnโt even do that well, I donโt know what else we could expect from him. #4, Ultimately, the presence of fish throughout the fishing spots was sorely lacking. The bait fish were reeled back mostly dead but without any sign of bite marks.
When I contacted Capt. Heath after we finished our trip, he told me that this month was the worst for inshore fishing. He personally led several fishing trips this week and didnโt catch a single fish either. Haha, This is an obvious contradiction. When I booked this charter, I clearly saw the advertisement specifically reminding customers to book in advance, because July was the peak season for inshore fishing, and seats were limited. If one were to book late, one may not be able to complete the booking. Strangely enough, I couldnโt find this advertisement in the description of this company anymore. If the captainโs former statement is true, then so many guests who booked this charter with Capt. Heath in July would have returned disappointed. Could it be that the captain deliberately made July the peak fishing season in order to attract customers who will return disappointed? I donโt believe so. Within one week before we came, a friend of mine booked another charter for a 3-hour inshore fishing trip in the same area and returned with a full load. If Capt. Heathโs words are true, I would advise everyone to be cautious about choosing this company for your fishing trip, because this charter companyโs fishing capabilities are far below average and you will return empty handed like us.
