We had THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME! I recommend this experience to the highest degree. These guys were the most fun and exciting crew I could have ever asked for. We had an absolute blast.  We caught 2 triggers and 2 banana fish, the trigger was DELICIOUS. We will most definitely be back to Fishing Al Gusto when we come back to Playa!!! Book, book, book this experience!

These guys are the real deal! It was wavy and a lot of seaweed around to deal with but we caught a ton of mahi and a wahoo thanks to the hard work of the crew. We took a short snorkel break and saw rays even in Less than ideal snorkeling conditions. Fresh made ceviche made right onboard from the fish we caught in the morning. Then headed back out and caught a few more fish before it was time to go. I couldn’t recommend these guys more for a great day on the water!

I booked with Fishing Al Gusto through FishingBooker two days before we wanted to go. The response from the charter was very fast after requesting to book (within a few hours) and I was charged the deposit after my trip was confirmed. We were asked a few questions and sent very clear and helpful instructions.

On the day of our trip, we met our captain Carlos and our crewmate, who was also Carlos, on the beach. We set off right at 7 AM to do some bottom fishing and we caught so many cool small fish right away! Carlos and Carlos were super helpful with setting us up (baiting our hooks, helping drop our lines to the right depth) and giving us tips for catching. Next, we decided to do some trolling. After an hour with no luck, they took us bottom fishing again where we caught a lot more fish, including a triggerfish. This one was really fun to reel in!

When we were satisfied, we set off to the snorkel location to swim while they used the triggerfish to make us some fresh ceviche. The snorkelling was absolutely amazing! We saw sea turtles, stingrays, squids, and hundreds of brightly coloured fish. We would definitely recommend snorkelling this way over a park. We also both loved the ceviche! My boyfriend was hesitant about eating raw fish for the first time, but he ended up having seconds. We ate with the crew, drank some beers, and listened to some music while enjoying the weather at the snorkel spot. After we finished, we went bottom fishing once more and we caught a huge snapper!

The crew was super kind and helpful. All we brought were our sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, swimsuits, and some snacks (which we didn’t end up eating because we caught fish). The crew supplied everything else. They maximized our time and we felt like we were able to do everything we wanted and left very satisfied.

We were a little unsure about using FishingBooker at first, but the process was very seamless and I would definitely trust it again! I also highly recommend Fishing Al Gusto if you are in the Cancun/Playa Del Carmen area. They made our first experience fishing in the ocean so amazing!

We meet an excited Daniel & captain Carlos at 6:30, just after 7:00 we shoved off. Daniel was immediately busy prepping 5 rods for Mahi & Baricuda trolling and explaining to us some of the methods of fishing in Playa del Carmen along with some of the local sites. Trolling was slow on our trip but not do to the effort our Carlos and Daniel put in for us…Thats why its called fishing and not catching lol. After 3 hrs of trolling we then switched to some bottom fishing approximately 80’ deep and instantly hooked up some Trigger fish !! These fish put up a good and fun fight. After 1.5 hrs my fiance and I were more than pleased with our catch so the boat was taken to a shallow reef where we went snorkeling for 45 mins and saw many different species of fish !! During this time the guys turned our days catch into some amazing ceviche !! We sat and talked with the guys and got some great info regarding Play del Carmen from places to stay, places to eat, scuba diving and just flat out great conversation. We got back to shore around 1:30-2:00.
When we come back we will absolutely fish with Al Gusto again, they truly know what their doing and enjoy it which made for a great time for us. If its not clear in the post..we would HIGHLY recommend Fishing Al Gusto.

I booked via fishingbooker.com with a minimal $82 charge held on my PayPal until fishbooker confirmed the boat I selected was available. Once it was all confirmed- $82 was charged to my PayPal and I paid the rest in cash at the boat. I was able to book last minute and my sons and I fished the next morning.

I selected “Fishing Al Gusto” and what a blessing it was. I received a text asking a few questions (how many people and ages) and then spoke to the owner on the phone. He walked me through everything making the process seamless.

A 5min taxi ride from our Playa Del Carmen Hotel to Coco Beach, we were met by Daniel (who recognized my sons and I by what the owner & I discussed) who walked us to our boat.

Our captain was Carlos and 1st mate was also Carlos. They had everything ready for us to push off by 7am. As Carlos drove us out, Carlos was tirelessly working, setting up 5 fishing lines. Within 2hrs I was pulling in my first ever fish; a 5lb Mahi. My sons also caught Mahi so we were set for the Carlos’ to make us fresh cevichi while we snorkeled at a reef.

I booked a 3/4 day fishing/snorkeling and I couldn’t be happier.

All we had to bring was swim trunks, sun/water shirts, sunscreen, hats and sunglasses. The Carlos’ had everything else for us (drinks, fishing lines, bait.). Bring snacks because if you don’t catch fish- you will not eat!

The best part of the trip was the fresh ceviche they made with our Mahi we caught. Even my 13yr old asked for seconds!!!

What a great experience for our first time fishing!

Even though I speak Spanish, the Carlos’ spoke to by sons in English so communication is not a problem!
