This was my 1st experience with a bay guide service and I booked last minute. I booked on a Saturday evening for the next Sunday Morning. I thought for sure that I would be getting a notice that the trip was declined by the guide. To my surprise Tim called me just a few minutes after booking to confirm. We arrived about 6:30 A.M. and he was waiting by the boat, where he helped load our stuff and off we went. Tim informed us that the night before was a full moon and the fish had been feeding all night so it might be slow. We started bottom fishing with live croaker which we were not familiar with previously. Tim was very informative on how to use the new live bait but at this time the fish were not biting. We decided to change locations and we also switched to a popping cork with live shrimp. Next thing we know it is fish on and we start to catch Specks. We stayed at this location until we had limited out on specks. Next we moved to another location to fish for Red’s but we were not successful before a storm started coming toward us. Tim knows a lot about fishing galveston bay and was successful even when we probably should not have been. Tim helped with all equipment, removed fish from hooks, baited hooks and made sure we had a good fishing experience. Now like I said earlier this was my 1st experience and with that being said I was unsure on how much to tip the captain. I guess that maybe I did not offer enough tip or something because now there was a $100.00 charge for live bait. I said I do not remember that being listed as a charge but if it was then I guess I missed it. So, when I got home I went to check and I could not find the $100.00 charge for live bait listed anywhere. I did look to see if other guides had this same charge and some do but their live bait is only $20.00 per person. Tim is a great guide but the $100.00 charge for live bait was excessive and should be clearly listed because it make this trip one of the more expensive listed. I would recommend Meador’s guide service because Tim is an excellent fishing guide and can put you on the fish!!!

What an enjoyable trip!  Captain Tim knows how to catch fish AND how to take care of his clients.  Was highly impressed with his professionalism, skill and affable demeanor.  His years of experience really show—and he still loves to fish as well .
