Derek was knowledgeable,ย personable and great company! He was friendly, helpful and a great communicator!ย We had a great time, learnt things about fish we didnโt know and about the history of the Bay of Islands! The boat was great and we have no hesitation in highly recommending Derek! Whether your a beginner or a seasoned angler youโll be well looked after! Weโll certainly be booking another trip with him if we go to Paihia and NZ again.
We arrived five minutes before time and the boat at crew was ready immediately. We cast off, caught our required amount of live bait, and moved out. Within a few minutes, we were on to a decent-sized kingfish which was welcomed on board and made a fantastic meal that night.ย Unfortunately for us, and many other anglers, there were so many boats out and about that, despite trawling our way around the coves, the fish were probably full up. The captain tried his level best but the fish were not playing fair!! This is no way spoiled the occasion and we hope to go again later in the year when all of the tourists have gone home!! Thank you for providing such an excellent service, a friendly and engaging Captain who was disappointed for us but who made us very welcome.
