In reviewing the fishing charter options for the Puerto Vallarta area it was easy to see that Ariel and his Calypso were a sure bet.  Being the only serious fisherman in our group, I only booked the half-day fishing in the bay with a visit to Los Arcos and Las Animas for lunch.  For Capt. Ariel and crewman Carlos being on the water is their passion and it shows.  They take great pride in their boat, their equipment,  and work hard to make sure you are happy.  Ariel was in excellent communication leading up to the trip (I booked it after I was already in the area).  We fished cross the bay, snorkeled with the fish around Los Arcos, and again fished our way to Las Animas for lunch on the beach.  Along the way we encountering sea turtles, rays, dolphins, and whales - and a dozen uncooperative boils of skipjack.  The Calypso is an ideal way to see the area and Ariel and Carlos are very knowledgeable and great hosts having both grown up in the area.  I would recommend these guys to anyone.  Whether you just want to get out on the bay as a mixed group (ages or interests) or are a group of hardcore fishermen.  If you are a serious fisherman, contact Ariel about seasons and trip duration.  Give him some flexibility and he and Carlos will get you into big fish.
