My friends and I had another fine outing on the Jazive1 with Jacinto and Chico. We were able to purchase live mackeral for bait, which yellowtail seem to prefer and started trolling in sight of the marina, because the water was churning with baitfish as yellowtail were in a feeding frenzy which was very exciting. We caught two quickly and lost another one before the feeding frenzy diminished. The largest was 33 pounds. What a fine way to start the day. Then we traveled out past Coronado Island and caught several more fish.  We enjoyed the comradery with the crew and the day flew by. We saw a large sting ray and some porpoises as well. After we returned to the marina, we drove with Jacinto to his house where he filleted our fish and bagged them. He then returned us to our rental house completing a very pleasant day.

We booked a day fly fishing with Jazive, Captain Jacintio Cuesta and his assistant Horatio (I hope I got that right). Capt. Cuesta and I communicated via email on the Fish Booker website. Capt. Cuesta returned all of our correspondence promptly. We used Google translate as the need arose. Capt. Cuesta greeted us at the entrance to the Marina and directed us to a kiosk where we purchased wrist bands at $7.50 pp. Mexican pesos were preferred for the wrist band but they accepted our dollars. I asked Capt. Cuesta to get us fishing licenses for the day at a cost of $17.75 pp. Our panga appeared to be one of the larger ones and was very clean and comfortable enough. There was clean, adequate storage for our personal items under the bow seat.
The fishing:
We found fish and brought them within casting distance by tossing live baits (sardinas). I highly recommend getting the sardinas if they are available. They cost around $20.
It was blowing 10 to 15 from the north with a 4’ swell and mixed 2’ wind waves. The captain slowed the boat down to make the ride comfortable. Both captains were very considerate in all regards throughout the day.
Mike fished on the raised deck on the bow and I fished the stern from the lower deck. There is room to cast from the lower deck both fore and aft. Long casts were not required but a half way decent back cast was helpful. The fish, dorado, jack crevalle and needle fish were up high so a floating line worked just fine. We each had follows from roosterfish but they turned off after a hard look. I was using a brown/tan Airhead fly and Mike had deceiver type in the same color. At the end of the day after hauling out we followed Capt. Cuesta to his storage yard where he artfully cleaned our catch, measuring the fillet before cutting so that they would fit flat in a ziplock bag. We took our fillets with us to the hotel and had them frozen.
This is a very professional and well managed operation. I highly recommend Jazive and Capt. Cuesta.

We flew down during hurricane Hilary. I have fished the Sea of Cortez several times over the past 25 years. This trip has to be one of my favorites, Jacinto had us on the fish as soon as we got to the fishing grounds, as a matter a fact when we got close we dropped in a couple of lures and arrived with a fish on. His boat was very clean and I know why, after every fish caught he would clean the deck. The seas were pretty ruff for the area he really focused on our safety, and which I really appreciate! My Spanish is not very good, but he made us feel like we had been friends for years.  We will be back with Jacinto very soon!

No need to continue searching for a boat.  This is your guy!!  My wife and I made a quick trip to Loreto and booked with Jacinto.  He put us on the fish the first day and we did so well that we went back out with him the very next day.  On the second day we did even better.  Jacinto was such a pleasure to fish with if I could give him 6 stars I would.  His boat and gear were exceptionally maintained. Once we got back to the dock each day we went back to his house where he cleaned all the fish and we had an opportunity to meet his wife.  Who was so nice and overly hospitable.  I am already in the process of booking another trip with Jacinto in November.

Windy day on the water, but that’s fishing. Jacinto was great and made the ride as comfortable as possible, and kept the attitude positive. Eventually we were able to grind out a catch for all three of us, including a 30lb yellowtail for my son. I’d definitely go with Jacinto again.
