Alfredo was our captain, and our boat was Lena. The boat was well appointed with rods, reels and bait. We had seats and shade. Alfredo also had on board refreshments for us. We opted for deep line fishing, and Alfredo was very patient as we were slowly learning, and had helpful advice on every cast. We caught nine fish of three different kinds, and it was so much fun! Next we were outfitted in life preservers and snorkel masks do do a little reef swimming. We saw starfish, urchins, rays, fish of all colors of the rainbow, and one gigantic sea turtle. It was phenomenal! The best part was at the end of our excursion when Alfredo stood in the shallows, and two large rays came up to him and coaxed him into playing. I think they know him! It was magical to see.
Everyone in Akumal was helpful and knowledgeable—we didn’t know how to get around, but assistants were there on every corner to advise us.
We would do this trip again in a heartbeat.

The young men who guided our tour were excellent! Within minutes we were catching fish, 26 in total! The weather looked bad the actual day we were going out and they reached out to us prior to, to change our date this speaks volumes for customer service!

The guide and crew were great and very attentive. They knew where to go and gave clear instructions on what to do. Plenty of fish caught and cleaned followed by a great meal at a local restaurant with the fish we caught. Would definitely recommend and are already trying to plan another trip.

No one met us where we had agreed to meet. So we wasted a good 20-30min trying to find them. We paid for a call area fishing, because of this we didn’t get to fish expect for 5 min when they hooked something. The waters were also really rough so going out deep wasn’t even enjoyable. Not something either of us would do twice.  We both woulda rather caught 10 little fish and got to fish than 1 big one and watch other people fish.

The hard seats and huge waves caused my tailbone to get bruised and the rest of the trio suffered.

Super easy to communicate with the owner before the trip. Was picked up at nearby hotel at the agreed time and with all the equipment as agreed. Super helpful crew with good English skills. Big recommendation 👍
