Overall it was subpar. We booked the half day 8 AM trip. The instructions sent were clear that we arrive at 745 to meet the captain. The captain was listed as Damon. I got a call at 743 asking where I was. We were in the car looking for the appropriate location as all the charters appeared to be labeled by signs. There was none for this company. He stated “to the left of the launch”. Our driver was in elk versed in the area and brought us down to the left and went to be sure we had the right place and right contact. The boat had no “Coolcast” logo and the captain was not Damon. Nor was he on the boat so we called him back to be sure we were in the right place to which I was instantly told “I just talked to you”. Well yes…but there is no one here and I’m trying to make sure we are in the right place. Finally he arrives and is completely rude to the driver who is trying to make some small talk about fishing kinda get the lay of the land but hey. We are late getting started so ok. Then we spend the next hour and half getting bait fish for the day. One of the other group got wrangled into helping drive the boat while our captain caught the bait fish. When he was heavy handed w the throttled because it was electronic controlled he was told he could be thrown off the boat for not following directions. Now mind you. None of us pretended to know how to drive a boat. None of us signed up to drive a boat. Nothing in the information indicates you need to help drive the boat so the captain can spend your time catching bait fish so you can go out.  But ummm ok. Let’s get through this and get out to sea. Good news is the afternoon charter is good to go right off because we filled the tanks for them. Bad news is we have now spent two hours of our four hours just getting going. Then we finally get going to actually fish. Half an hour out to the first location. We ask why we stop here and get told “why not “. Ok dude. No reason to be a jerk. So we clarify. Is there a wreck or particular mass underneath us?  Yep. A wreck. Ok. Thanks. So we start fishing and we catch Bonita. Immediately get told it’s no good to eat. I ask why not?  (Thinking bones or strong taste or really oily) and get told “because not everything in the ocean is eatable”. No kidding????? Again. Don’t be an a***  Long story short. We catch nothing but Bonita. We boat between two sites. We aren’t really talked to. We aren’t taught anything. We are told that if anyone catches anything we share it between everyone…another hidden little gem of info. We spend more than 2/3 our time either filling the bait tank or going to two different wreck sites to catch fish you wouldn’t eat. Disappointed to say the least. I know not all days fishing means you get good bites but I’m thinking it should be a nice day of conversation and a little bit of time to learn and maybe meet someone new.

Captain was a fishing sage . Knew the keys inside and out . In fish all day .
