This was a shared trip so we didn’t have to pay so much. The weather was nice and sunny, but the wind was from the north, which the first mate said wasn’t a good wind. We started hitting barracuda right away when we arrived at the first reef (5 in total). We had yellow tail snapper hitting the spoons from the outriggers, but couldn’t get them in fast enough before the barracuda ate them😩. Both captain and first mate switched gear and moved to try and get better game fish to hit. We moved to blue water to run for sailfish, kingfish, and wahoo. We had to sails hit but threw the hook. We ended the trip with a final black grouper, but released it because it was out of season. It was tough fishing due to weather, but anytime the captain found frigate birds we hooked up. After we got back to the docks, other boats only had one or two bites for the day, so considering what we caught it was a decent trip.
