Caught Fish But…Customer Service need Work..
VERIFIEDI really don’t have a negative review to write. But since this was my 1st ever booked Charter through Fishbooker, I wanted to leave honest feedback.
Trey seems like he could be a cool guy but I really don’t know based on the experience we had with him.
I booked a Crappie trip but Trey asked if we could switch to Stripers since that’s mainly what’s catching.
I just wanted to fish with my nephew. So I said no problem!
The trip didn’t start as plan. Trey called us an hour and a half before the departure to let us know his boat was broken down and we would be taking his buddy Collins boat out. Collin ended up being the real “Guide”. I didn’t mind Trey setting up another boat for us.. But what ended up happening was Trey spent most of the time in the front of the boat talking to Collin. And I spent the main time talking to my nephew and letting him know what they were doing. I made it clear to Trey we were new to fishing and wanted to learn.. That was not the case. It felt more like we were fishing with two buddies who let us tag along for the ride.. Trey was not that engaged with us unless he was giving some popcorn type Coach comments like “be ready” “ let’s go”. There wasn’t any discussion of what they were looking for on the live scope or how they determined where to stop.. and that is what we were looking for.. Yes we caught our limit of fish in less than 4 hours but that’s not all I thought you were paying for with guided trips. I thought I was also paying for the knowledge, and to learn the skills that the Guide possess to put you on some fish! I just felt like Trey and Collin were having a good time bonding and I was watching with my nephew.. Mainly what we were paying for is the reel in the fish once Trey or Collin baited and dropped the line.. Just reeling in the fish was anticlimactic..
Trey put us on fish but unfortunately he didn’t talk much about how we did it.
Secondly I understand we are on a boat and there may be times where we would get wet from the boat taking on water. But the seating on the boat was not ideal and we had to hunker down behind the Captains chair once Collin would start the boat up and move us to a new location. Again I understand it’s a boat and you may get wet.. But there seemed to be little care for the passengers during each move to a new fishing location. My nephew and I were soaked a few times! However Trey and Collin remained pretty dry..
Overall, it was the lack of customer service displayed by Trey that bothered me the most. Fishbooker states that tips are custom in the fishing industry. But tips are for services that go above and beyond dedication to customer service. And after paying Trey and thanking him for taking us out. He said nothing. No you are welcome! See you next time! hope you all had a blast! Nothing.. Service like that does not deserve a tip.. I know Trey has 5 star ratings so maybe my review and trip was just a bad day.. But again with this being my first trip on Fishbooker I want to be as honest as possible on my experience and not sugar coat anything! FOR $400 I just am not satisfied with the customer service provided.
The last thing that bothered me was the fact that Trey smoked cigarettes through most of the trip. It was not only the fact that he smoked cigarettes and didn’t ask if we minded… But after he finished each one he through the buds in the LAKE!! Poor Fish!!
Maybe this was just an off day for Trey.. but all in all I would give my final grade of a C+. You will catch fish.. but Customer Service is not up to par just yet.
