Captain and staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and very easy to be around for six hours. The boat was well equipped.

what a perfect day on the water. I brought two of my grandsons, both 13 years old and my son, on a Charter with Captain Jim today. What a pleasant trip for us all. The boys said it was awesome and want to go back again. We were well taken care of and enjoyed the experience of a lifetime. I would recommend this charter to anyone taking young boys out to fish on lake Michigan. I have also recommended Captain Jim to my friends that asked where we caught such large fish. What a memorable time, we will always look back on this trip remembering all the fun and excitement we had.

I asked for a recommendation for a fishing charter from our vacation cabin rental agent.  Her brother, who lives in Holland, recommended J J Sport Fishing Charters. Without a doubt his recommendation exceeded all of my expectations.  Caption Jim and First Mate Stacy made the trip a memorable fishing experience, not just a ride in the Lake.  Captain Jim was the epitome of the seasoned Captain who knew the waters and his boat.  First Mate Stacy was super friendly and helpful.  He knew instinctively when we hooked a fish and guided us on how to bring in the fish.  We took four 20-25 lb (+/-)  king salmon and a good size lake trout.  When we got back to the dock and were waiting while Captain Jim cleaned our fish, the catch from other boats that we saw seemed absolutely puny compared to ours.  We learned that Captain Jim and First Mate Stacy had placed second in a recent major local fishing tournament —they know their stuff.

Captain Jim Swanzey and his First Mate Stacy gifted us an excellent experience. My father was visiting from Peru, and we hadn’t been out together on Lake Michigan to sport fish in decades. My brother-in-law, Michael, came with us too, which was a bonus.

Jim and Stacy put us on some good trout and salmon—great fishing in strange weather.

Most of the boat ride we spent in a thick fog after a thunder storm had blown through earlier in the morning. We could see tiny droplets all over the gear, dripping off the lines, and on the little hairs on the back of each other’s necks, and I’m our beards.

We hooked a couple of 17-18 pound salmon and four good-sized lake trout. No record breakers, but good eating. We landed one salmon and three trout, and cooked them for dinner. Delicious.

Jim and Stacy make a good pair: Jim captains and keeps quiet helping out during busy times, while Stacy knows how to talk to people, keep them engaged, and give directions and advice.

All around, an excellent time.
