We took two 6 hour trips and one 8 hour trip with Captain Charlie and it was a blast. We caught a variety of fish. Captain Charlie made it very easy and took excellent care of us on his boat. It was a great experience and we look forward to fishing with Against The Grain Charters soon.

Christmas came early this year on our Oceanside offshore/reef trip with Cap’t Charlie. We were off the dock at 7a sharp and after a quick bait stop (where we quickly grabbed enough ballyhoo for the day) we were out to out first stop.

Charlie put us on fish immediately and we were hooking up and bringing in a wide variety of fish.  We often had 2-3 fish on the line at a time and our party of 4 barely had time to relax and enjoy the spacious and well outfitted boat.  We hit two other spots, each better than the next and had a full box of mutton snapper, red grouper, mangrove snapper, cero mackerel, Bahia tuna, yellowtail, hogfish, barracuda, porgie, amongst others by the end of our 8 hour trip.

Despite a little wind and swells, Cap’t Charlie expertly piloted the boat to ensure everyone was comfortable beginning to end. His experience and expertise were evident as he always had the boat well positioned, the lines baited and helped us get the big fish into the boat.  We heard on the radio that other boats were not doing that well that day but we had a banner day due to Charlie’s expert fishing skills and captaining. 

Overall a great day on a great boat with a great captain.  We’ll definitely book again with Against The Grain on our next trip and recommend you do the same. You won’t be disappointed, see the attached pictures, they speak for themselves.
