We booked a 12 hour Tuna trip with Captain Matt and first mate Trevor. He wanted to give us the best shot at a giant bluefin so we left the dock at 3AM. We were at the spot catching bait before daylight and setting up the rods. We caught a huge Thresher Shark and an 80+ inch Bluefin. We had an awesome time catching both and fighting the tuna! Matt let us stay out longer just to hit the best slack tides and give us the best chance at landing another one. Can’t wait to go back out next year with Matt and Trevor!

We booked Lyla Rose fishing charter on a recent family trip to Boston.  Gloucester was less than an hour away from our hotel.  Parking was great.  Matt took good care of us, and his good energy level kept our boys engaged for the full five hours.  They caught quite a bit of striped bass, which impressed them very much.  Afterwards, we had some fresh seafood for lunch at the pier.  It was only 20 min from Salem, which was our afternoon/evening stop.  Great day overall!  The kids say it was the best part of the trip!

Excellent day! Crew was knowledgable and professional. Was only myself.. A mom traveling solo with my 10 year old son. Caught a bunch of Pollack right off the bat. Crew pointed out many sights along the way. They allowed my son to look at Fish finder n told him a little about what they do which he loved. Then he caught the striper of his life. The tour was priced affordably and the communication from booking until leaving the boat was on point. Many thanks from landlocked mermaid and her sea obsessed son!

I will start by saying the fishing trip I took my husband on for his 70th birthday was a blast! Captain Matt was very personable, fun and anxious to get us fish. We did the striped bass charter and had lots of action. They were fun to catch and my party of five all caught several fish. We started out catching the bait fish, which kept all of us busy and then moved to catch the striped bass with them. I highly recommend Captain Matt and his Lyla Rose boat. He made the experience lots of fun. You won’t be sorry with this charter choice and we would definitely go back to him to do another.

I originally booked the Lyla Rose for a day of deep sea fishing. However the weather forced a change in plans. Captain Matt & deckhand Trevor took us out for off shore striper fishing instead. It was pouring rain just as depicted on Wicked Tuna & other fishing shows. But we still managed to bring in a few stripers (1 keeper). It was a great time that we’ll never forget. Definitely worth the price. Thank you Captain Matt & Trevor.
