Our fishing trip on this boat was by far the best part of our visit to Mexico and we almost didnโt get to go. When we arrived at the beach the morning of our trip, there were large waves in the harbor and our captain told us it was too dangerous to get to the boat and he would have to cancel. We were understandably sad but relieved that the Captain was concerned for our safety.
Luckily there was a cancellation the next day and we were able to go out for the 8 hour trip we planned.
The boat: The boat is comfortable but not luxury. Itโs was set up perfectly to troll, jig and drop fish. It is big enough to handle the small white caps we had on our way back in at the end of the trip.
Service: When we got on the boat in the morning they had some croissants for us. They also had a cooler with bottled water and soda. The crew was incredibly attentive and saw to our every need. Pancho is very skilled and patient. He was changing rigging quickly, baited every hook and gave us instruction on the different styles of fishing. We had a pleasant suprise when we went snorkeling. Pancho acted as our underwater tour guide and showed us things we would have swam right past. We saw star fish, conch and a sting ray. It was a real treat. While the snorkeling boats were leaving the area of the trek, Pancho guided us to the beach. He collected our fins and retrieved our shoes from the boat, then led us on a short walk into the jungle to a cenotes. We had a private swim in the centoes for about 30 minutes before returning to the boat.
The fishing: Iโll start off by saying November is not a good season to fish this area. That being said, we caught 8 fish! We caught an Amberjack while jigging. We caught Grouper and Blue Stopped Hunt while bottom fishing. No luck while trolling. Iโll say again, Pancho is an expert fisherman. He handles everything. For two inexperienced anglers this was really nice. They asked us what type of fishing we wanted to do and gave their recommendations. For experienced fisherman I am sure they would work with you in any way you want.
The feast: At the end of our trip the crew asked us if we wanted to eat in the restaurant. They cleaned the fish and gave them to the restaurant. For $10usd the restaurant prepped our fish in the style we prefere and added two side dishes. It was a perfect end to a perfect day.
