We booked the 6-hour combo trip, which included fishing, snorkeling, and stopping at a local beach.
Pre-trip experience:
Captain Jorge was decently responsive to our communication before the trip. I had a question about how to acquire fishing licenses, and he called me to let me know that those are provided (contrary to what the booking says!) However, he didnโt respond to my other texts or messages leading up to the trip, and then sent me a message the night before asking us to pay in cash (which we didnโt have on us), and arrive a 1/2 hour early (which we werenโt planning on doing). So clearer, earlier communication would have been nice in that regard, and the only reason I give the overall experience 4 out of 5 stars.
Day of experience:
While Jorge is the captain, he does NOT come on the trip with you. Two of his deckhands take you on the trip, and they 100% know their stuff. Austin especially was phenomenal - he speaks English fluently, was an informative tour guide, and an excellent angler.
We fished for white finned tuna, and had a massive haul of 17 fish! Three separate times, Austin would call out โ4 on!โ cause we had just hit a school of them and they had gone for all 4 of our lines at the same time. Those were some great, adrenaline filled moments.
We had to mention to Austin that we wanted to snorkel, as he didnโt know and we mightโve fished all day (so confirm your expectations for the day with the deckhand as soon as you set off!) But they were very flexible, reeled the lines in, and first offered to take us to a local restaurant where they could prepare our fish for us. We got them prepped 4 different ways: ceviche, blackened, grilled, and garlic & butter.
After, we went snorkeling at Los Arcos. Tons of fish, but strong currents and also not the best visibility at times.
