Half day trip with Captain Mark
Half day trip with Captain Mark
VERIFIEDThis particular experience was a complete waste of money. Everything seemed very rushed. The boat arrived at the marina when we were supposed to be departing. Once out on the water, we spent just about another hour trolling around for bait to put in the hold so we could get out and fish at some reef. Then we finally headed to a reef and dropped anchor. Captain Mark not so much a people person. Expectations high on already knowing what your supposed to do. I had three teenagers with me and my wife. Captain Mark not patient with these kids and was pretty rude to them when they asked questions or didn’t do the right thing when possibly getting a bite on the line. We ended up catching maybe 7 small fish with possibly just one worth posting a photo because it was good looking. We then spent another good amount of time going to another location because a dolphin showed up and started eating our bait. We went to another reef and did not have any more luck there for the 30 min we had left. Although not getting out on time, Captain was sure to cut off the trip right at the 4 hours and head in empty handed. Lunch is advertised as part of the experience but Captain Mark just brought us in and said goodbye and sorry it wasn’t a better day for us. Overall downer on the day. Upside was Kirt, our first mate was very pleasant to talk with and had a great laid back personality.

I am sorry you feel that way. We worked very hard to put your family on fish which we did. I don’t think it is fair to write a bad review when we did our job and put you on fish. First off we departed on time and also gave you 20 minutes extra time. At no time was I rude with anyone and in fact the one teenaged boy I don’t believe was your son was being rude which even your son made a comment about. I tried to help him when he had a big fish on which there are only seconds to react but it got in the reef because he didn’t understand the directions then was very rude when I asked him to hand me the rod so I could try and get the fish out of the rocks. There could be more said about that but I will not comment about the attitude of a teenager. I asked you before we started what your goal was either to try and go for big fish or just have fun and put the group on a lot of fish. You asked to go for big fish which I explained in order to do so we would need to catch bait that is not available for purchase which I had bought bait and chum which would have been fine to catch plenty of fish and we could have saved time but I followed your request. I have no control over how long it takes to find and then catch the bait which we did. Also because of that we had numerous bites and lost fish which I don’t control. I did everything you requested which was to put 5 people that had no experience on big fish which I did and where lost due to inexperience which happens in fishing. Also remeber I can’t control the dolphin that came and started to take our fish and baits requiring me to move the boat to another reef which I didn’t have to do but was trying to show you all a good time. I even gave you extra time at no charge due to the dolphin ordeal. In the end I’m not sure why it was a waste of time when it seemed most everyone was having fun catching fish. That’s why they call it fishing not catching which some days is great and some days people don’t catch anything, which we caught quite a bit. In the end I am used to customers coming out expecting to catch a world record with no experience and booking the cheapest trip possible allowing no time for the crew to try and teach them how to even fish. Once again I am very disappointed in the review you gave when myself and crew worked hard and did everything possible to show everyone a good time and put everyone on fish. Remember I asked you if you wanted to go for big fish or a lot of fish and you said big fish. You also mentioned you came back empty handed but at no time did you request us to clean fish for you to take. You said you had to leave right from the trip to head to Ft. Lauderdale to catch a 6am flight which we gave you some places to stop and see along the way to see alligators. At no time did you request to take fish with you. In our description we mention we practice catch and release but don’t mind filleting your catch to have a diner. There was actually over 5 fish that could have been cleaned and plenty for a meal but we released most of the fish which you said nothing about. It seems to me nothing we could have done would have been good short of all 5 people catching record size fish which we tried our best.
Also we do not advertise lunch as part of any charters we offer. We do fishing not food. Capt. Mark
