Fishing locations: flats just outside of Seminole Bridge with stops all the way up to Gulf
Upon arrival to launch location captain Ted was there on time with the boat ready with well full of live bait and rigged rods.
It took us 15 minutes to start fishing (10 of those spent watching baby dolphins playing at nearby boat ramp).
Got back at 12:30 and captain filleted catch for us to take to restaurant
All in all amazing day, amazing captain amazing fishing and great lunch.
Timeline:
- As we left boat ramp, saw dolphin pod with babies
- Went fishing on flats just outside Seminole bridge & caught 4 bonnet heads of 5-10 lbs, 1 grouper and 1 snapper. All catch & release.
- Went to second location close to Treasure Island to target speckled trout and got one of 1 lbs on first cast. 2 more bonnet heads followed with another snapper, a few catfish of 3-4 lbs, some lizardfish and 4 more speckled trout.
- Wanted to go target mackerel and kingfish in gulf so we went to catch some shad for bait but failed in doing so. Returned to our first location to try again for redfish.
- 20 minutes in and a few sharks and catfish later, first redfish took. Just under legal limit so we returned it.
- Another followed soon, which we kept for lunch. Around 11AM, got the biggest fish of the day a 27in redfish which we decided to keep for lunch.
- We got two more redfish and decided to call it a day
Captain was very patient, funny and interesting to be around. He taught us more than a few cool fishing tips and worked his a$$ off to get us on the fish. The boat was nice & clean. It would have easily fit a fourth person fishing. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Capt. Ted Nesti to all anglers.
P.S. After filleting the two redfish we decided to keep for lunch and packing them, he recommended an excellent restaurant where they prepared our catch!
