Although it was Thanksgiving weekend, the weather gods were looking out for us. 15 degrees and 8 km/h winds. Made for a picture perfect morning. Within 20 minutes of leaving the dock, we had a crab trap dropped and lines in the water. We knew the fishing was going to be slower that time of year and it was. The fish were way deeper than they had been just a few days before; they went from 55 ft down to 120 ft. Hearing the radio chatter, our captain Don was the only one to figure this out. In the end we were able to land 4 whoppers. Had we not hired the right guide, I doubt very much that we would have even gotten a nibble. My son and I had a fantastic time. We highly recommend this charter.

Richard was our captain and guide.  He is an extremely knowledgeable fellow who has grown up on the waters around Sooke and knows the habits of fish very well.  The day was glorious fairly warm as we started out with an hazy orange sunrise.  Herds of deer on the early morning streets.  Three seals on the docks as we approached the Rising Tide.  Fishing was light.  We had a very nice wild coho that we had to turn back, but got a very nice medium size Chinook.  We lost one other nice one and caught a tiny chinook which of course we released.  We enjoyed talking with Richard and would charter with him in the future.  The privilege of being out on the water of the Salish Sea cannot be exaggerated.

I booked with the Rising Tide Coastal Adventures to take my father for his birthday. We had a good tide and trip went amazing with 2 massive salmons and 1 rockfish to take home. Don knows local waters well and took us to all the good spots for a big catch. My father had the most wonderful time in his fishing career when landing his 16lbs salmon. The channel is bustling with life of seabirds like murrelets, guillemots, and animals like seals, and otters for bird/wildlife watchers too. I enjoyed learning about local wildlife from chill and knowledgeable captain & co-captain. We had an absolute blast and hope to do it again in another year!

Our family of 5 (kids 7, 9,10) had the most amazing time on our fishing trip!  Captain Don was awesome and our kids had the absolute best time.  We are on our way to Port Renfrew but found the fishing options there a bit out of our price range and not great for our family of 5.  We decided to book a last minute trip with Rising Tides in Sooke and so happy we did.  Captain Don was super knowledgeable and knew where to look for fish and we got lucky with weather and conditions and caught a ton. He also caught us a huge amount of crabs for us and fed the seals for the kids.  It was the highlight of our trip!!  Super easy to book, super responsive and super fun. Plus- Captain Don loves kids and was super sweet and patient with ours!  I would highly recommend booking a fishing trip with Rising Tide/Captian Don to any family traveling to Victoria/Sooke. It truly is the best!
