Cabo Tuna Fishing Becomes a Multi-Species Day
Tuna were the objective, but offshore fishing doesn't always follow the original plan.
The Blue Star spent the day searching offshore without recording a yellowfin tuna.
Instead, Daniel and Jonathan encountered substantial skipjack activity.
Twenty-five skipjack were caught during the charter.
These aggressive schooling fish provide powerful strikes and sustained fights. All 25 were released.
Cabo Marlin Fishing Produces a Release
The charter also produced one marlin.
Once the fish was hooked, the crew managed the fishing spread and boat position throughout the fight.
The marlin was successfully brought alongside and released back into the Pacific.
Blue Sky Cabo Fishing and Tours maintains a standing policy of releasing all marlin.
One dorado added another offshore species to the day's record.
Cabo Fishing Uses the Full Twelve Hours
A 12-hour charter provides considerably more range than a standard morning trip.
That can be important when targeting yellowfin tuna, which may require substantial offshore travel.
Travel time still counts both outbound and returning to Cabo San Lucas Marina, so the additional hours provide flexibility to search while preserving fishing time.
More time, however, doesn't guarantee the targeted species.
December 12 demonstrated exactly that.
Daniel and Jonathan targeted tuna but ultimately recorded 27 fish across three different species.
The Blue Star returned at 6:00 PM with 25 released skipjack, one dorado and one successfully released marlin completing a full twelve-hour day.
