This charter was the highlight of our whole vacation! Captain Frank was so great! We enjoyed our time talking with him as much as the actual catching of fish… and catch we did!!!! My husband caught a 44in red drum, my 11 yo daughter caught the same, our 14yo son caught 2 43in red drum and the rest of us caught bluefish and red drum also. It was amazing!!! Very family friendly fun for our family of six!!! We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Captain Frank for your fishing trip.

О рыбалке на Ловля камбалы острогой

Flounder Gigging is a night-time, inshore hunting style that blends patience and precision. Bright lights reveal the sandy bottom, and anglers use a short spear, called a gig, to harvest fish that lie camouflaged in shallow water. It is exciting, hands-on, and a fresh way to explore the flats after sunset.

This technique targets Flatfish, especially Flounder. In some regions you may also hear anglers talk about Fluke, which is a type of Flounder. These fish ambush bait fish on the bottom and often settle into sand or mud, making them perfect for gigging.

The basics are simple. You move slowly through clear, shallow water while wading or from a shallow-draft boat fitted with lights. A gig has one or more barbed tines. When you spot a Flounder’s outline or eye shine, you place the tip just behind the head and make a firm, controlled thrust.

Expect a calm, focused outing that suits beginners and experienced anglers alike. Families enjoy the steady pace and short learning curve. Guides usually supply lights, safety gear, and the right gig. Wear quick-dry clothing and non-slip footwear, and be ready for bugs, warm nights, and occasional splashes. Conditions matter, so clear water, light wind, and a moving tide often help.

Rules for Flounder Gigging vary by location. Always check local fishing license and permit requirements, open seasons, legal methods, and harvest rules before you go. Know how to identify species, measure fish correctly, and follow size and bag limits where they apply. When in doubt, ask your guide and keep only what you plan to eat.
