Punta Cana is a real angler’s paradise. It boasts 62 miles of coastline, and provides access to both the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Together, these bodies of water create a strait known as the “Mona Passage,” a big game sportfishing hotspot. There’s a whole host of deep sea fishing charters in Punta Cana ready to help you experience it!
When it comes to what you can target, let’s begin with Billfish. Marlin and Sailfish lurk in the waters of the Mona Passage year-round, and can be found only a few miles from shore. Swordfish, another member of the Billfish family, can also be found around Punta Cana, but you’ll need to head slightly further from shore to get your hands on them.
It’s not just about Billfish, though. Hard-fighting Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Yellowfin Tuna also call these waters home. Not only do these fish make for an excellent angling opponent, but they also taste pretty great. You’ll find them in these waters all year-round, but October through April are the most plentiful months.
When it comes to picking the perfect deep sea fishing trip in Punta Cana, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. As big game fish lurk close to shore, you can head out on a half-day trip and still experience plenty of action. If you’re a more experienced angler, however, you can opt for a day (or longer) on the water and experience this fishery at its finest.
Cap Cana Marina is the most common departure point for deep sea fishing charters. Captains here often offer visiting anglers the chance to combine their deep sea fishing experience with some snorkeling or swimming, so you can tailor your trip to perfectly suit your needs.

Be patient they call it fishing and not catchin. Just relax and learn about everything and enjoy the open water and talking with the crew. As far as sea sickness maybe a Dramamine and hr before!

Decide wether you want to troll jig for fish. Trolling is less engaging...but potential for bigger fish. It was windy everyday we were in Punta Cana, so the Atlantic Ocean was a bit rough. Even if you think you don't get seasick, I would recommend Dramamine a few hours before your trip.

If you get sea sick revive the weeks sea conditions & try to book the calmest day as it can get rough. Also go for near shore not deep sea if you get sea sick as staying busy fishing helps lots.
