Looking for the ideal vacation? It doesn’t get much better than casting a line offshore in Mexico. There’s the Pacific Ocean with its endless opportunities, the Sea of Cortez with its treasure trove of fish species, and the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea with some world-famous fish. Pair up with a Mexico deep sea fishing charter and get your fish on!
Depending on where you are, you can catch anything from Yellowtail Amberjack to Billfish. Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Wahoo, and Sailfish are available all over the country, while three kinds of Marlin are possible in the Pacific, and Swordfish add to the two Marlin species on the Atlantic side.
The Sea of Cortez with its unusually warm waters offers a year-round haven for plenty of normally pelagic fish. Striped Marlin are here whenever you visit, with Yellowtail Amberjack, Sailfish, and Tuna, being good options too.
Hit resort towns such as Cabo San Lucas in Baja California, Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific, or Cancun and the rest of the Riviera Maya in the Caribbean. There’s also Ensenada just an hour and a half south of California or Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point) near the Arizona border.
Wherever you are, the fishing grounds will be at your disposal within minutes. Expect multiple hook-ups even on half day trips, while full day trips will maximize your chances of landing that trophy catch. Charter captains and their first mates will do whatever they can to make your dreams come true.
Rules and Regulations
You’ll need a Mexico fishing license in order to cast a line offshore. Check with your captain if they can get it for you or if you need to buy it online before you go. Other than that, you should be aware that each angler can take 10 fish home per day, with a maximum of five of each species and one Billfish.

From what we heard, mahi season is almost over. We were lucky enough to have an amazing captain and get on more mahi than we could handle. For what could have been a bust on mahi, our captain and mate killed it!!! So my opinion is skewed, but I'd rate it a five if they told me our trip was daily.
