Deep Sea Fishing in Long Beach

With access to some of the finest action SoCal has, Long Beach deep sea fishing charters offer adventures for all kinds of anglers – novice to pro. Whether you're looking to hook into a trophy or simply catch some fish for the freezer, everything's possible in these amazing waters.

The main reason why Long Beach stands out as a deep sea fishing destination is that it's only 29 miles away from Catalina Island. The underwater kelp forests that surround the island are a sportfishing paradise. There, you'll get to fish for homeguard Yellowtail, delicious California Sheephead, and big White Seabass, to name a few.

Of course, Catalina isn’t your only option. As you make your way further offshore towards San Clemente Island, you'll get to go after a whole range of pelagic fish. Starting late spring, you'll see the likes of Bonito, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, as well as Marlin race through these waters. If that's not enough, you'll also get to fish for Yellowfin, Albacore, and big Bluefin Tuna, too.

But the list goes on even further. This stretch of the Pacific Ocean features many different spots where you can catch deep-dwellers such as Lingcod, California Halibut, and dozens of species of Rockfish. And if you want to go for trophy-sized bottom fish, you can ride out to San Nicolas Island and enjoy some of the best angling in Southern California.

Most deep sea fishing charters are located in the various marinas in Long Beach. To get the most out of your trip, it's recommended that you spend at least 8 hours on the water. However, some of the more distant fishing spots will require you to hop on an overnighter. Whatever you choose, just remember to bring your California fishing license and you'll be in for the experience of a lifetime.

What anglers said about Deep Sea Fishing in Long Beach

Fishing can be hit and miss. Usually good fishing with a good captain, boat and waters. Have enjoyed good fishing for sculpin, red fish, and bass. Great harbor just larger to exit than others.

There are many options this time of the year. The bass fishing in the local waters and at the islands are very active this time of the year. There is also a possibility of catching pelagic fish such as yellowfin and bluefin tuna. There is always yellowtail fishing either at the islands or just outside at the Horseshoe Kelp area.
