We had seven and six had never fished like this before. Everyone caught fish and one of us caught 4 different kinds. Captain new where to go and I know this cause the other charters out were following us. First mate was was very helpful explaining how things are going to work and helping us get the fish in the boat.

(Full Day Trip / Shark fishing)

    Great day fishing for sharks!

We loved spending the day with Captain Niall! Our small group caught pollock, which he cleaned for us to take back. My husband hooked a Tope, but it came off before he got it to the boat. The highlight was definitely the Porbeagle shark that our son caught! Captain Niall was visibly delighted watching him battle the shark in to the boat over the course of 25 minutes. It was a great fishing trip and we loved Captain Niall's expertise and company.

    Outstanding trip!!

Capt Jay put us on the fish again and again. All the crew were super knowledgeable and eager to show the smaller guys how to get hooked up. We brought 19 people and everyone had a great time. Can't wait to do it again!

Tope Shark fishing targets a fast, hard-fighting sport fish prized on light tackle. Also called School Shark, this coastal Shark is known for long runs, quick bursts of speed, and steady power. Many anglers chase Tope for the challenge and choose to release them after a photo.

You can target Tope during inshore fishing around channels, sandbanks, and estuary mouths, or along nearshore drop-offs. Skippers often use bottom fishing with fresh Mackerel or Squid baits. Drifting a bait along a tide line also works well. A short wire or heavy monofilament leader helps prevent bite-offs. Circle hooks improve hook-ups and make release easier. Light chum can draw fish into range without overfeeding them.

Expect fast action when a Tope picks up the bait, followed by strong, steady runs. Fights are exciting but manageable for first-time anglers with guidance. This trip suits anyone who likes hands-on fishing and steady action without extreme heavy gear. Bring sun protection, a hat, polarized sunglasses, and layers for wind or spray. Pack any motion-sickness remedies you prefer, and a camera for a quick photo before release.

Regulations for Tope Shark vary by region and can change during the year. Before your trip, check local rules for fishing licenses or permits, seasons, and harvest or release requirements. When in doubt, ask your captain for the latest guidance and best practices.
