With over 45 years of fishing experience, Captain Todd Philcox is your guy if you want to explore the best of inshore and nearshore fishing. He started out mastering the waters of Connecticut, Long Island Sound, and New York, fishing for various inshore species. After 2005, he started focusing on catching Redfish, Seatrout, Flounder, and Tarpon in Northeast Florida waters. Apart from being a USCG licensed captain, Captain Todd is also a retired NFL quarterback.

Halvdagstur (AM) • 4 voksne • 2 børnHad an incredible half-day fishing charter with Captain Todd Philcox at Salty Charters of Jacksonville. Captain Todd was exceptionally attentive throughout the trip and put us right on the fish from the start. He worked hard to move us to a number of different spots, which allowed us to catch all the fish we needed early. We landed a great number of redfish, along with some nice jack crevalle and speckled trout. On top of the great fishing, Captain Todd was fantastic with our 10 and 12-year-old kids, keeping them engaged and helping them out the entire time. I would definitely recommend Salty Charters to anyone looking for a great day on the water, and we would certainly use them again!

Captain Todd not only led us to great fishing (redfish - primarily), but incredible guidance and kindness. He knew the waterways really well and we never stopped catching quality fish from the time we started fishing until the trip was over. He will definitely see me again when I return to Jax Beach this fall. We caught reds up to 33 inches, trout, flounder, and jacks. Incredible trip and Todd led us to great fishing. Halvdagstur (AM) • 2 voksneCaptain Todd is fantastic! We charter a lot and this was likely our best. Todd had us on good sized redfish within 10 minutes of leaving the dock. Kept it interesting too with more spots offering more variety (flounder, jacks, catfish, and tried for sea trout). We caught all morning. Everything is new and clean. We will be back again to charter with Todd

Surprise, surprise!

Cruised the beach this week in search of Cobia from St Augustine to Mayport, while the Cobia were not be found, we ran across a school of huge Black Drum. I estimate this one was about 70 lbs, I sure had a hard time lifting it up! It's always fun to get surprised by an unexpected catch and there are alot of different species on the move this time of the year. The waterways are open, let's go fishing!

Spring weather on the horizon

Winter fishing has been productive but difficult at times due to windy conditions and cold temps. Our 2 week forecast calls for daytime temps to remain above 70 degrees. Water temperatures will begin to rise quickly bringing an increased quantity of bait and hungry predators! Pictured are a couple nice redfish brought to the boat recently on a cooler day. Grab your sunscreen and let's go fishing, spring in Jacksonville Beach rocks!

Late February Redfish

Spent a cool Thursday afternoon on Jacksonville's inshore waters, Jim and Tom were rewarded with some nice redfish in the 22-24" range along with lots of action with smaller reds. Recent trips have seen nice catches of flounder and black drum as well. Warmer days are ahead, book now with Salty Charters!

Weather Forecast mild, Fishing Forecast

January weather in NE Florida can get a bit cold, but our 2 week forecast is for mild temperatures with a couple minor cold fronts coming through. Conditions will be great for shallow water action with redfish, pictured is a double header of 24" redfish from last weeks trip with Hayden and Chris! Afternoon tides are optimal through January 15th, morning tides best from the 16th to the 21st. Let's go fishing!

Skinny Water Redfish

It's the best time of the year for shallow water fishing for redfish. Monday afternoon's trip included great action with 10 reds from 20" to 24" and numerous smaller fish in the 16" range, tons of fun on light spinning tackle. The morning tides prior to Christmas day will be productive as will the afternoon tides between Christmas and New Years Day, book now as my calendar is filling up!
