The Helm Sportfishing 

Our family had an incredible 6-hour deep sea fishing trip! The captain and crew were outstanding—friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help, making the experience enjoyable for everyone. The highlight of the trip was catching some beautiful mahi-mahi! The action kept us excited, and reeling in those fish made for unforgettable family memories. The crew was patient, encouraging, and made sure everyone had a chance to be part of the fun. We had an amazing time, caught great mahi-mahi, and made memories that will last a lifetime. Highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a fun day on the water with family or friends!

I did a six hour tour with Captain Mike and Mate Kevin. It was awesome. Complete pros even in the choppiest of waters. It took a while but I caught three mahi mahi and a bonus barracuda. I highly recommend for the beginner to the advanced - no better way to spend a day in Key West!

Captain Mike of Helm fishing and first mate Kevin took me out for my best day fishing EVER! I shared with them that have been hoping for an opportunity to catch a sailfish for 9 years, and Captain Mike and first mate Kevin REALLY DELIVERED!!! I caught 3 back to back and the largest was 71 inches!!! We also saw an amazing large pod of spotted dolphins! Captain Mike knows his profession well! I found my Captain!!! It’s pretty flipping cool to be able to say to a captain and crew that you want to catch a specific fish and then have it be a trifecta!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!!! I will cherish this memory forever! Captain Mike also is just a really exceptional kinda human and I not only have found my Captain, but have also made a lifelong friend!😃👍❤️🎣 🥳

The go to Captain and come back with rewards from the sea

We recently booked a deep sea fishing trip with Captain Mike and his mate, Justin, while celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. I wanted this to be a memorable experience for my wife and me, and while there were a few highlights, the overall trip was disappointing. The crew was friendly, and we enjoyed seeing dolphins during the trip. We also managed to catch a couple of mahi that happened to swim by, which was exciting. Unfortunately, there were several issues that really took away from the experience. We were never informed before departure that the onboard toilet was out of service. We also weren’t told that the generator wasn’t working, which meant there was no air conditioning in the cabin. On a hot day offshore, both of these issues made for a much less comfortable trip and are things we feel should have been disclosed before leaving the dock. We had also discussed targeting swordfish and marlin prior to the trip, which was one of the main reasons we booked this charter. While we understand that fishing is never guaranteed, we never really had the opportunity to get on either species, which was disappointing given our expectations. Overall, Captain Mike and Justin were personable and did what they could with the conditions, but the lack of communication about the boat’s mechanical issues and the experience not matching what had been discussed beforehand made this anniversary trip fall short of what we had hoped for.
