My wife and I went out on our honeymoon and we had a great time with Captain Braden! He put our group on the fish within the first 90 minutes and we hooked 13 skipjack and landed 11, it was a super fun time with great people! Captain Braden was very nice and friendly, we asked him some questions about the fishing gear and rods they were using so we could get some for our fishing boat back home and he was really helpful and nice about giving me good info on things I would like to get. I really appreciated that a lot because I am always looking for new cool tips and tricks for fishing. I would highly recommend this charter and Captain Braden to anyone looking for a great time on the water catching fish.

Kappa didn’t ease you into it. It hit you all at once. The kind of dawn where the horizon glows before the sun even thinks about showing up. Trade winds just enough to wrinkle the surface, not enough to ruin it. You could feel it before a line ever hit the water—this was going to be one of those days. We ran out fast, engines humming, eyes scanning for life. Birds were the first giveaway. Not scattered. Not lazy. Tight, nervous, working. Then came the flashes—bait getting pushed, water breaking in quick, violent bursts. Skipjack. First cast didn’t even make it five cranks. Hit. Not a nibble. Not a tap. A full-on freight train. The rod loaded, drag sang, and just like that, it was chaos in the best way possible. Lines going out, anglers yelling, someone laughing like they couldn’t believe it. That’s skipjack fishing when it’s right—you’re not waiting, you’re reacting. And they didn’t stop. Every cast into the frenzy was a gamble you were guaranteed to win. Chrome missiles tearing through bait, smashing anything that moved fast enough to look alive. You’d hook one and before it was halfway in, another fish would explode next to it. Pure aggression. No hesitation. The best part? They fought way bigger than they had any right to. Tight circles under the boat, sudden runs, that constant pulsing energy that never really let up until they were in hand. Not glamorous fish. Not the ones people frame on their walls. But in that moment? Absolute perfection. Between bites, you’d look around and realize where you were. Deep blue stretching forever. Air clean. Sun climbing. That feeling that nothing else exists outside that boat and what’s happening right now. Kappa delivered the kind of day that resets your standard. Not because it was easy. Not because it was comfortable. But because it was alive. Fast. Relentless. The kind of fishing that reminds you why you started in the first place. And long after the rods are put away and the salt’s washed off, that sound sticks with you—the drag screaming, the water breaking, and the unspoken thought every time you fire another cast: Here we go again.

Went out today with low expectations (that's why it's called fishing!) Not only was Captain Austin knowledgeable, friendly, and chill he clearly has a passion for his craft. Our boat ended with 6 skipjacks, 2 Mahi-Mahis, and a striped Marlin which I had the pleasure of reeling in. He even went a bit overtime chasing a pack of Mahi-Mahis he found at the end. He embodies the essence of "one last cast" truly a kindred spirit to any sport angler out there. Next trip to Kauai I will be booking with Captain Austin.
I booked this 6 hour charter for my son’s 12th bday and it didn’t disappoint. Captain Braden was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. He was born and raised on the island and had many stories as well as island suggestions. I know it is called fishing and not catching for a reason but on our trip we had a good haul 5 good sized skip jack tunas, 1 yellow fin tuna and…. a 2 1/2 hour fight with what Captain Braden believed to be a 600 - 800lb Marlin! I will definitely take Aloha Kauai Sportfishing again!
We caught one small yellowfin tuna, he filleted the fish and we had some of it for supper that night. The captain provided exemplary experience and our time on board was very good. This trip is probably best for trollers seeking larger fish. First class equipment, boat and electronics.
