The boat and equipmet were state of the art and Captain Alex knew his stuff. We decided on trolling harnesses and after a grind the first half of the day we landed on a awesome school and caught some beautiful eyes! We had a triple at one point and the next pass was 6 fish in 10 minutes. I will definitely look Alex up next time we go and would highly recommend booking through them.

It was good to be able to drift over some humps and reefs and dropshot and work a small swimbait. It was August 1, so the bite was not consistent since the fish are dispersed in deeper water, but that is what we kind of expected. We were able to move around the boat and try different stuff and picked up about 15 smallmouth. All of them were good size fish in the 3 lbs range +. We had one guy in our group who had never caught a smallmouth and he landed a 4.7 lb bass which he plans to get a mount replica made. It was definitely finesse fishing, which is challenging and enjoyable. Our captain loves to fish and we learned some tips from him on summer smallmouth. We are thinking about doing a winter whitefish ice fishing trip with this guide. Good time!
