Captain Steve Himel is one of the best fishing guides I have ever fished with, and I have fished with dozens. This time I told him I hoped for action and variety, and my goodness did he deliver. I enjoyed a hot, humid, cloudless summer day in Sportsman's Paradise on Lake Pontchartrain with Captain Steve. I said I'd like to catch 5 species of fish, and I did even better: 7. With Steve taking us where the fish were biting, I caught speckled trout, black drum, gafftopsail catfish, croakers, hardhead catfish, white trout, and a big blue catfish.
